This virtuous pursuit is shared by every member of our team; in the way we deal with each other; in the way we deal with our clients; and in the way we deal with our communities.
While remuneration is only one reflection of an individual’s worth it exerts intangible influence beyond the numbers. Described as “the income necessary to provide workers and their families with the necessities of life” the living wage has come to mean and provide so much more.
This is a process for creating sustainable successful places that promote wellbeing, by understanding what people need from the places they live and work.
Cityguard patrols are area-focused so they’re always nearby not trekking across the other side of town. The closer we are the quicker we get to you. Makes sense. To see our patrol areas just click here.
Each of our guards as well as our admin and deployment team are industry qualified. And if you’re in a specialist situation we’re trained to deal with that too – like marine settings or VIP retail.
Like all the great teams we work hard to get the right result by working together. We back each other and we all work to the common purpose – changing the perception of the security industry. It’s ours, so it counts.
It’s part of our training, it’s part of our culture but most of all it’s part of what makes us who we are. Our first thought is to keep people safe; our second is to prevent anything further going wrong. And then we go back to check. Just in case.
Our sole objective is to provide better trained, more engaged and more responsive patrol and site personnel. Each of our team members has a sense of personal responsibility as well as leadership support that enables them to remain calm, secure and effective in all situations.
Following our successful security engagement for the Rugby World Cup principally, centred around Queen’s Wharf, we were engaged to continue providing security services for the two key assets on the wharf; the not-so-temporary Cloud event centre and the grandly refurbished Shed 10 cargo shed.
Following careful consideration for public access to this unique waterfront asset, Cityguard continue to work with Panuku Development Auckland to provide a safe yet assessable environment for cruise ship visitors and event goers.
The Viaduct Harbour Marina Restaurant and Bar Precinct bordered by Halsey St, Fanshaw St and Custom Street includes the Viaduct Marina and Princes Wharf operations.
As a destination entertainment precinct, it inherently has its own problems with New Zealand’s drinking culture and its fallout, placing real pressure on business operators to maintain a consistently high standard to represent their business. Adjacent car parks in the precinct were a significant trouble spot with youths gathering to “pre-load” prior to entering their favourite night spot.
Cityguard implemented the ‘Community Patrol Service’ based on the successful Newmarket formula. Experienced officers were selected to work during the day to manage the busy commercial marina and a team of security officers were placed on the Viaduct to patrol all areas and maintain a very high visibility with a proactive stance in dealing with problem situations.
The Wynyard Quarter is now firmly on the event space calendar having already hosted many local and international events, it has excellent dining options, car parks, playgrounds for children and attracts thousands of visitors every week. Cityguard was asked to prepare a security plan for the overall precinct.
We activated a high profile mobile patrol service 24/7 where security patrol staff walk the restaurant precinct and engage with the public and business owners.
We mobilised a dedicated onsite Security Officer, Thursday to Sunday, who walks or rides around the precinct.
We are able to treat the entire precinct from Westhaven to Queens Wharf as one operation, cross training staff and raising the level of shared knowledge amongst key staff, constantly improving our service.
Like other major precincts Newmarket had its problems; theft from vehicles, vehicles being stolen, burglary, shoplifting, graffiti and street disorder were relatively common occurrences.
Our proposal was endorsed by the Board and commenced services in June 2003.The proposal detailed how with the cooperation of all of the local business owners and managers, a dedicated service would be established. This service would provide 24 hour on call service, it would never leave the Borough of Newmarket, therefore speed of response to alarms and other emergency situations would be a consistent priority.
The service was called Newmarket Security and a development plan was agreed upon which included convincing all business operators to shift allegiance from their incumbent security provider to the new service. This strategy would enable the service to grow initially from a day shift to a full 24 hour service offering a complete suite of commercial services including Alarm and CCTV sales and Monitoring and Commercial Guard Services.
The 2012 Volvo Ocean Race Auckland Stopover was a month long event, 20th Feb to 25th March. Held on the Eastern Viaduct car park, Te Wero Island, the Viaduct Event Centre, Halsey Wharf and the Viaduct Harbour, open to the public and attracting crowds of 250,000 eager fans all wanting to share in the excitement of seeing their boat arrive in port.
A hugely successful event with all parties very happy with their outcomes. Accolades to Security for their management and ability to respond to trying conditions, moving targets and responding to unforeseen situations and managing relationships between multiple stakeholders.
After the hugely successful opening ceremony in downtown Auckland, Cityguard was brought in to assist with securing an enlarged event foot print, which included the Viaduct Harbour, Princes Wharf Restaurant precinct and The Wynyard Quarter.
Approximately 200,000 New Zealand and international rugby fans converged to celebrate and be part of the Opening Ceremony, many questions were asked and as a consequence extraordinary requests were placed on companies such as Cityguard, to hire, uniform, train and deploy security staff in seemingly impossible timeframes.
It was a remarkable effort to achieve what we did; we were always fully prepared and staffed and presented immaculate Security teams who performed at optimum levels at all times and as a consequence were offered high praise from the Ministry of Economic Development, Auckland Council and our highly valued clients.
