Hello All.

Bought some weathering powders a month ago to do some weathering on my Model train and maybe work it into my 40k stuff. I was keen to try and heavily weather my Rogue traders and wanted to get the knack of it before i started on them. Although my Trains are worth allot more per model than any of my Rare 40k items i have been wanting to do this for a long time on them also.

In my training stages i Killed two $400 trains what kind of sucks but i hope i can find away to fix them later. My 3rd train came out to what i wanted and this one i am posting pics of is my 4th. I bought this 4th train of ebay already with a very crap weathering job so i got it for a steal at $100. Managed to 95% of the crap weathering off with some nail varnish remover. I have not tried these on my mistake i have done but i don't see it happening as once i do a layer of power i mat varnish the whole model so there is about 5-6 coats of that on mine.

Here is some pics of how the weathering powers look on my train Note these at 1/148 scale what in war gaming scale would be 15mm.

Note also i have not done the under frame and wheels yet.

quite a few different ways around it. But i blob the power on at the top and brush stroke down once that is done get a wet cotton ear bud and wipe downwards once happy mat varnish and repeat if you want darker. for the smoke that was just brushed where i wanted and kept redoing it till i got the tone right. It ends up being alot harder than most make it look.

Yeah it looks pretty grimey and WW2 like, I imagine it would suit FoW very well, would make for some nice gritty looking marines too, but Dave has shown it can be done like a boss with some simple (so he claims) techniques.

Yeah I watched him paint one of those marines, it looks soo quick and easy when he is doing it, but my method of painting is muchmore more rigid in it's execution, so I'd say I'm the same as you, I just don't paint that way unfortunately.
