Hey if you play elves in space we can play tomb kings in space Tongue

I'm loving the look of the transport vehicles, the new immortals and those cyclops looking things. I think the rest would look good if they had a less tomb king style paint job with lots of gold on them everywhere.

To say I'm keen on these is an understatement, I started 40K because I liked the look and the idea of Necrons (generic ancient evil but I still liked it), only to find out once I knew the rules that they were terrible to play with.

It looks like Wraiths and Necron warriors are indeed staying the same, however I really wanted to see a new Tomb Spyder, I'm thinking these guys will likely be done in two waves. I'm very very interested to see the codex.

I'm going to do some over time at work over the coming weeks and make a massive Maelstrom order, kinda handy that my brother lives in France Smiley

Yeah we should be able to do a big combo order, but I will have to look into a few things first. Firstly need to find out how much it costs to send items from France to NZ with some sort of track and trace function, and also there is the possibility of customs adding a fee as the order would be fairly large.

Even still I'm confident it would be much cheaper than buying from NZ, but would need to see how much of the margin it would eat into.

Just be careful with orders over $400NZ (I think it is $400). You'll have to pay GST on goods arrival.

new necron prices up on Wayland Games.
Looks like the new Triarch + Lych or Deathstar will cost around the same as the DE Raider, if Wayland is anything to go by...

I'm going to be pouring over the codex first, and playing some counts as battles before I make my order, I'll be after $200 worth easily I'd imagine. I'm suspecting those

The thing I'm most worried about is the new transports will be too useful not to take requiring a bunch of the them, they do look nice though Smiley

I want to see some stat lines and rules! I'm curious as to what the the void sheilds and phase sword combo is, fingers crossed for Necron storm shield equiv Tongue

from what i've read, its a power weapon and a 4+ inv save, that can reflect saved shots into an enemy unit within 6" Smiley

I see, that sounds different which is cool. Well the power weapon part of it, for me hinges on what Initiative value the Lych guard and Praetorians have. I'm also interested to see how vulnerable they are to sweeping advance this time around. I guess with more elite units and less swarms of warriors on foot it should be better already.

http://www.warseer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=320809

Pretty solid summary there, has the over all fluff change detailed there too, I'm sure it's going to piss off a bunch of die hard Necron fans, but their codex and backround was thin as paper I'm actually glad they are gaining some individuality.

I see Eldar and Tyranids are now major enemies of the Necrons, bring it on Dave and Laz Tongue

Sad to see the monolith getting outstripped by the doomsday ark, if they have similar costs it sounds like the Ark is preferable. All in all I'm damned keen to try out a game with the new rules, they sound like they will be a good army, not going to be over powered, but should move well away from the bottom rung.

Okay last thing, the lords and crypteks can be split up and dished out amount units, but DO NOT count as independent characters, that's something I didn't expect.

Had a chat to my bro, we figured out he can order directly from maelstrom, and pay in Euro's which will actually be slightly cheaper than GPB.

Then shipping from France to NZ is about (25.90NZD) per 30W 24H 15D (centimetres) box shipped via air mail. He is moving house there in mid Nov so we could make our order in later Nov if you guys can wait that long? I can certainly wait a month longer for a 30%+ discount Smiley

Hell I've been waiting years already, doesn't make much difference to me.

Should be able to, I want to try keep this order within 2 boxes so it depends how much Necrons we order, Necron orders take priority Tongue

One of the better information (can hardly call it rumours now) posts;

http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/403994.page

I'm surprised the flying transport isn't in the first wave, depending on it's cost, I think it will be something you would see in most armies so your Elite infantry don't have to walk around, or rely on a monolith for movement.

Also intrigued by the potential of Nemesor Zahndrekh and his universal special rule granting and removing abilities, as well as his bodyguard who has a fairly unique piece of wargear allowing him to teleport his unit out of close combat. A fairly costly duo from the sounds of things, but the potential to tar pit dedicated CC units, line up all your big guns, and then leave combat and open fire, sounds very tempting. Also unlocks royal court options too.

Dying to get my hands on this Codex, my brain is already starting to form some possible lists with the information provided so far. Definitely keen to try out a full squad of lash whip equivalent, dual-wound, 3++, rending, Wraiths though Smiley

Also sad to hear destroyers are reduced to 1-3 per slot, they sound like they will be very useful, especially 6th edition, but yet again the Necron fast attack slot is a highly contested area especially with Scarabs now being absolute beasts.... almost literally, I'm not quite sure what to call them now, fearless beast swarms that turn land raiders into rhino's?

nah they kill land raiders.....7 scarabs charging into a land raider that didn't move(yes I know they move this is just an example) 28 attacks, -14 to the av....meaning wrecked land raider Wink

Hehehe even better! I can imagine they will be a staple unit in pretty much any new Necron army. If they cost apparently 'slightly' more than the previous ones, they should be a fairly cost effective unit for it's use.

finally out on the GW site guys, if you want to see how much of a hit your wallets gonna take  Roll Eyes

Pffft, we ain't buying from GW direct bro! Should be able to make some decent savings as long as you can wait till late November.

For myself, I'm looking at;
1-2 Crypteks, to represent Zahndreck&Obyron, that special character has too much tactical benefit to not be taken in my eyes, and will be the basis of my army list.
1 Destroyer lord - Depending on his Wargear choices and over all cost, he will lead my Wraiths.
2 boxes of Praetorians / Lych Guard - Guaranteed these will all be setup as Lychguard with void shields, as a unit of T5 3+/4++/4+++ elite troopers is a tough nut to crack! The 4+++ cannot be nullified , the special character can provide them Furious Charge or Counter Attack each turn, while if teamed with Obyron they have the ability to teleport OUT of close combat, potentially leaving your enemies prime dedicated close combat unit standing around to be shot to pieces, I struggle to think of any disadvantage here except for the want of a transport (see below)
1 Nightscythe transport..... Ohhh wait the bloody model isn't released!!!
1 Triarch Stalker..... Ohhh that's not out either!
1 Command/Annihilation Barge - I'll be using this as an Annihilation barge, fairly effective points cost for the amount of anti-infantry capability, the kit also comes with a lord if used as a command barge, so I'll steal the lord, and use him to represent my special character lord, money savings!

The hard part is when it comes to troops, trying to decide between warriors in Ghost Arks, versus Immortals on foot supported by a Monolith or Veil of Darkness (teleport) Cryptek. Either way it will be 2 Ghost Arks or 4 boxes of Immortals/Deathmarks, same cost either way really.

The one thing I'm worried about is with most of the army being I2, how crucial will Crypteks end up being? Most of them have gear to screw with enemy I in close combat or when assaulting, they may end up being mandatory, the other idea is making crypteks out of spare parts from the immortal/deathmark kits and the lych guard/ praetorian kits.

As for the codex, I'm walking into GW on the 5th of November and paying full NZ retail price, I cannot wait to go over the points costs and finer details so I can play some test games.

The only real big unknown question from here, is when will we see Necron's wave2? I could use a forge world Tomb Stalker as a Triarch stalker I guess, this also lends some hope that with a resurgence in Necron armies we might get some more forgeworld love, the tomb stalker is great, I'd like to see what they can do with all this new material.

2 boxes of lycheguards for me  Grin, you do know you can use the other 3 sets of weapons pm the sprue to make more elite choices?
u get 4 full sets of weapons in that box. Some simple GS and u save urself a whole load of money, same thing with the immortals and dmarks

I'm going for just an entire foot list, tons of warriors, max tomb spyders and maybe a few Immortals to mix it up.
