Games: 40k but used to play WHFRP, VtM, WHFB, Epic (Adeptus Titanicus), Paranoia, Star Wars RPG, Shadow Run

Armies: Guard 1500pt always changing and building toward a 2000pt

Used to play a bit in the warhammer FB 2nd & 3rd edition days and rogue trader. Just started playing again in the last few months. Neck Face got me back into it.

Not a bad record so far with one win, two draws and no losses. this was mostly down to luck with Vaul and Neckface dominating the games I played with them and me winning on a technicality. looking forward to building a decent takes all comers force to play in tournies in the future. Played once on the sunday against Neckface in the corner against his raven wing. Will be coming back once my army is up to scratch. Might pop in to gawk at other players once in a while and get some tips if thats cool. Stoked to see such a lively gaming club in Auckland!  Cheesy

User name: Dan in Auckland

Name: Dan (i just moved to Auckland in March from the UK)

Games: 40k

Hi All,
I used to play 40k about 15 years ago, but then went off to uni and had to work n stuff.  I've often flicked through copies of White Dwarf to see how the game has changed and the new model ranges.  So i've decided to start playing again, after much deliberation i've decided to start with a Space Marine Army (mainly becuase they were pretty easy to play with and paint), so i'm in the process of putting together an army at the moment.  To make things even more difficult for myself, i've entered a tournament in the middle of September.  So i need to quickly get some figures painted and some games under my belt Smiley
So in a few weeks i will be asking for some beginner games (its going to take me a little while to get used to understand the new ruiles - geez life after 'overwatch' and no imperial robots)

Regards

Dan

I was refered to the City Guard by my friend from the South Auckland Wargaming Club VAUL. And by chance I know Karen from by way of CATFACE (WONG).

Hope to game with you all in the Sundays to come Wink

Hey jeff, pity you didn't make it to the SAWC today, even though it was a total fantasyfest.  I played four games at the club today.  Mike and pete were also playing a 5000 point empire vs dark elves epic, it looked like a lot of fun.

Of course I will, in fact you should think about a time and date and we can do a session on it.  I've got three armies up and running, all of them are ready to go and are legal at tournament size.  You should swing by and we'll do a demo game.

When will the mighty city guard be congregating again?

I am currently wallowing in the awesomeness of unemployment, and have far too much free time on my hands  Grin

Also would you prefer SM's or Nidz for your ass wiping?

At the top left under where it says "Hey, <username>", click "Unread posts" then on the right side, click "Mark as read". Repeat for "Unread replies"

Greetings one and all,

I'm JS, short for my longer actual name which people cannot pronounce. I play Warmachine and Hordes, and occasionally some of the GW Specialist Games. I have the physical characteristic s of Anton LaVey, or Vladimir Lenin, whichever person you more identify with. My position is currently sitting.

My life story in 2 or less lines: I was born in Canada, moved to NZ and lived here for a while, moved back to Canada to study, then spent 3 years in Europe, and now I am back in NZ. If you would like to know more, feel free to dial my 0800 number.

Games: 40k, SpaceHulk

Armies: Chaos Thousand Sons (pure)

Hi, I've decided this year to get back into the hobby after 9 years away earning and learning a long way from home.

I need some regular opponents to school me in 5th ed 40k Wink , as well as motivation to finish painting my existing army(prior to fielding them of course).

A little history: I first began with a Chaos Undivided Black Legion army headed by Abaddon in 2nd Ed, and then moved onto Dark Angels Space Marines when 3rd Ed was released. Both armies and all of my terrain/bitz ended up in my brother's possesion when I began my travels, and were either traded, sold, or stripped and repainted Sad

I don't regret losing my armies though, as I can now start that pure Thousand Sons army I always wanted (but that the old range of miniatures could not provide). Slightly disappointed about losing all the daemons though.

I'll hopefully pop in to the club in the near future to christen my new box of SpaceHulk, and also to start fielding my Thousand Sons. I'll try and get some pics up in the 'Show Off' thread ASAP for some (s)khorne and ridicule Wink

As I mentioned to you this evening, let one of us know if you want to borrow an army and play a tournament standard sized game of 2250 points at the club on a sunday.

Games: 40K

Armies: planning on Orks

Just starting out as a wargamer through the very friendly staff out at GWS Sylvia Park. Just got my Assault on Black Reach set just before Christmas so I've just starting learning how to put it together. I've already decided I'd quite like to be Orks and bought an Orks codex with my vouchers on boxing day. So I've decided to hang around here and hopefully come to a few club afternoons to learn how to play as whilst I'm keen on the whole painting side I'm a little overawed by the rules etc. but really want to make the most of it as a whole hobby. Not sure how much time I'll have for it tho' recently became unemployed so I'll soon be studying almost fulltime and hopefully working as well. Still plenty of time. Smiley

Also into anime and comics, PSP, NDS games n stuff, Hokunfei you sound familiar from the anime side of things.

Welcome to city guard, if you can make it along to the club in freeman's bay on a sunday afternoon it would be good to see you there.  If you don't have some models ready yet you could see about borrowing someone else's army for a game - don't worry about the rules too much as it is easy enough to get an opponent who has the rules well enough memorized from experience that you can get a nice streamlined practice game in.

Games: 40K, Space Hulk

Armies: Dark Angel Space Marines, World Eaters(WIP), Catachan IG(1st army, awful painting), High Elves (never played fantasy!)

Looking to get back into playing Warhammer 40,000. Work and School has meant I havn't played a game in the last 5+ years, but I never stopped collecting or painting minatures.

Collecting for so long with no army lists or tactical reason to buy certain units has meant I own something stupid like 10,000 points of Dark Angels,.I really need to stop buying space marines.

I've fallen out of touch with all my old war gaming friends or they've stopped playing etc. so I want to try get back in the loop.
I used to go to the South Auckland games held at Dury for about a year or so, but that was back in like 2001.
Not sure if they still do that?

I own the 5th ed rule book and have tried to get up to speed with the changes since 4th but there's only so much you can get out of a book.
I'd really love to come down and play a slow, friendly game to learn/re-learn the rules if that's possible!

Good on you Aeron...

Club meetings are every Sunday 1:00 to 5:00 except this weekend and maybe 1 or 2 other sundays during the year.

The first 1 (2?) times are free but after that non-members pay $5 a day, Member pay $3.
Come along next sunday (28th) and speak to Karen, the honorary mum.

Most of the lads bring 2250pt lists, we don't usually take named characters.
We are getting ready for Equinox, so the lists are a bit harder, so bring the Hydra (or the goblin on the 50mm base as a proxy)

Be good to see you.
