Two days before Space Marine hits the store stands, can't wait, geeked out and got the collectors edition, if only I could win the Limited edition full scale chainsword. Too bad I only to get my freek on with it for two days before I fly out to Hong Kong.
Gears of War 3 out on the 20th and also on the 7th Dead Island,  lucky I recently sold my magic cards to pay for them.

Mr B your a funny guy  Grin. I gonna unleash my newly painted WOC (yes fully painted) on those evil stuntie spawn and squish  Grin
I scored big time today, went to JB HiFi today to pay for my SM Emperor Edition, the person behind the counter screwed up and charged me for a standard edition price  Grin On the downside, JB hasn't recieved their stock yet and has taken the SM posters down, hopefully that doesn't mean its on Friday, as I'm off to the RWC and I fly out on Saturday  Undecided
On a wacky note, Dead Island was supposed to come out tomorrow, but JB has pushed their release date back to the 12th, but it already has the stock and could release it on Friday, confused, I certainly was  Huh

Yeah, I noted something was a bit odd when I pre-ordered my copy online which said it was to be released on Friday yet I went to JB-HFi and it says the 7th(today).

Jeebus you finished it already eh?

I can say from my first impressions in the first couple of hours is that the visuals are pretty much bang on, these guys have literally taken the table top models and brought them to life in game. I wish there was a little more depth in the melee system though, there aren't enough combo attacks for my liking, but there is a decent spread of weaponry to use.

I'll keep plugging away at multiplayer and see how it pans out.

Very unhappy with multiplayer that current system is extremely lagy very unplayable. Reading around this is due to they use P2P servers in the USA and no dedicated servers around. Not yet so i am going to hold off on multi for a while

Multiplayer gameplay seems fine to me although that may be due to playing on xbox.

Ya that might be why most people with these issues are on PC.

Awesome game, love the gameplay and story. Really love how it switchs seemlessly between close combat and ranged combat.

So cool and THQ have again shown that they get warhammer.

THQ to produce a full length movie next Wink

I'm about 2 thirds of the way through the game now and still having quite a lot of fun! You really feel like a bad ass Space Marine when you have the Thunder hammer and Jetpack Smiley

I thought about this while talking to a workmate who is also playing the game, if I wasn't a 40K fan how would I rate the game? I'd probably give it a 7 out of 10 versus looking at it as a Warhammer fan which I'd give it a 8.5 out of 10. The game play in a nut-shell is Too Human meets Gears of war, not exactly pushing the genre boundaries.

I have had an okay time playing multiplayer on Xbox, but after only 2 hours or so, I think it lacks the depth required to hold players interest for the long term, the online unlock system is torn straight from any one of hundreds of current games and I for one am slightly tired of the feigned progression, and favoritism towards players with more time to invest.

All in all though if you are a 40K fan, this game is pretty damn faithful and has a decent production value.

I think my only critisism is that the campaign is too short and the online via ps3 in the uk at least is faulty i.e. it just doesnt work, it endlessly searchs but never allows me to join a game.

Because of that I would have to give it a 8 but if I wasnt a 40k player then probably go to a 7 as the failure to ensure a good consistent online experience is really annoying.

Campaign too short?!! Space Marine took me longer to complete on normal than any other shooter I've played (Gears of War, any of the Halos and CODs). I'm running through it again on hard to try for the achievements.

I agree game length was good better than most. and normal was not that easy like normal. Still died a few times.

I will certainly be playing through the campaign again, really love the attention to detail they have put into the game.

Ok guys, I finished the game on hard this morning and was rather disappointed. It didn't seem any different from playing it on normal. There were no harder enemy engagements, nothing different about the level in any way in fact the enemies died just as quickly. All I felt I got out of it was 125 gamer points.

Hey guyz its me again the 13 yaer old kid with the curly hair. I just made a break througth with my parents to let me play R16 games in time to get spacemarine. I installed it and hade to wait about three hours for steam to update[I hate steam] and when i finally got it running it was so laggy it was unplayable! Not THQ's or Relic's fault offcourse just my computer wasn't up to it. Major bummer! Cry It looks cool thougth I'm gonna get my mate to buy it and then invite me over for a week so i can play it for ages! lol  Grin

I've just finished it on normal, probably would have started a hard play through but having to take the auxiliary air control unit in my car apart 3 times over the weekend kinda sapped all my spare time. Was worth it in the long run as the car club I'm with went on a sweet cruise on Sunday.

But I really don't think I will continue playing multiplayer in this game any further, the lack of region based match-making is a guarantee of horrible latency issues in P2P hosted games, I got host once and it was stolen in the following match as people far away from the match making servers appear to be 'bad' hosts.

Basically everyone outside Europe or the USA is pretty likely to get screwed by terrible latency. The campaign was fun and I think I will play it again down the line.

Crap you guys, it looks like I bought a dog, like homefront  Cry 8 - 10 hrs for  single player campaign crud. Is there a horde mode or multiplay lan ? Im still in the UK and this is killing me, I knew I should have bought Dead Island, but 40k temptations got the best of me.

Yeah, in the end it's a good game game (campaign's long enough for me) with multiplayer that will attract you for about 2 weeks max but in the end it's just not worth how much it costs. I'm just gonna keep playing anyway and see how long it takes for the numbers in multiplayer to drop significantly (- the uprise in 10 year-olds).

Also I'll keep playing in hope that they'll bring out something a bit more entertainment lasting for it. (Although it is said that 'Hope is the beginning to Despair').

NO xbox here i want gears 3 but not buying xbox for one game. I am still liking space marine, single player i still say one of the best games i have played in a long while, enjoying multi also. But likly once i have all the unlocks it will be no fun like TF2 but that single player will be played a few more times over. I am still happy with the buy of the game.

Yep I got GoW3, it completely over shadows Space Marine unfortunately, I'd struggle to find an aspect of 3rd person action shooters that GoW3 doesn't do better. To top it all off, it was $74 brand new. I still think Space Marine is a great tribute to the 40K universe, as a game though it's lasting appeal is going to be about a month tops I'd say.

One of the most pleasant surprises gears gave me, is the addition of dedicated servers located in Australia, the multiplayer is smooth as silk, there is virtually zero lag issues at all, it makes for a very even playing field that lets the skilled players shine through Smiley
