painting blunderbusses

having finally pulled finger on painting the none hobgoblins in the army im a bit stumped on how to paint the ends of the blunderbusses its a big flat surface. i have tried yellow and it doesnt look that good

when i get to the shop next im picking up a silver for the barrels so any ideas welcome

The standard 40k trick - drill 'em out. Although for BB's you will need a big drill

tempting but there old school and i dont want to convert them to much, thats why i have done a few modifcations on some newer hobgoblins

9 choas dwarfs finished 6 blunderbusses 3 warriors

base coat. black
big hat and body. mecrite red
boots bottom of body. beast brown
gloves. dark angel green
axe and blunderbusses. bolt gun metal with dwarf bronze over the details
face/hands. astronomicon grey with mix of astrnomicon grey and bleached bone over the top on nose and fingers
hats and body highlight with blood red
dwarf bronze over the top of the hats and any raised points on the hats and wepions
devlin mud over just about everything face wepaons body boots
white dry brush over the beards
thruaka green wash over any bronze to make them look dated

one weekend later done

5 more all but finishedbit of dry brushing to do 36 more to go

23 finished when i get to 30 im going to have a bash at a cannon

33 and a cannon finished now i have found drybrushing the braided beards going across works much better than top to bottom
