i got hold of a copy of the vampire book and have had a good read of it. i will try and stay on the right side of copywrite rules so no points costs

you have seen im keen to give the vamps a go. i do like vamps theres no grey area with there bad guys 100% bad guys. they also dont run off and i get sick of that (cant always roll snake eyes)

anyway this is my starting list basicly as much magic as posable backing some large blocks of troops and some bats i think a bit excssive on the size of the grave guard but everyone seems the like big arse units so why not. feel free to offer some pointers especially if i have made a few errors in writign the list

vampire lord level 3lore of vamps
blood lines master of black arts, ghoulkin ,summon ghoules
items helm of command , bloody haulberk, black periapt
vampire hero forebiden lore (metal) scroll avatar of death (great wepion)
wight bsb banner of barrows
44  ghouls  ghast
44  ghouls ghast
25 skellys fullcommand
3 fell bats
3 fell bats
3 fell bats
40 grave guard great wepions fullcommand

I note that you are looking to run 2 x 44 units of Ghouls.

Why wouldn't you break that into 3 units of 30?

I can't see much wrong with the list, but I'd like to ask, why the block of skellies. It seems to me you're looking to run a ghoul rush followed by the grave guard smash? Is the skeletons just going to be a bunker for the lord to use the helm of command? just a query, only because with a magic heavy vampy army like this I'm surprised there is no coach for the scare tactic and to run with the bats.

Magic heavy list + coach = fail.

I would also drop the skellies, swap them for 50 zombie bus to deny steadfast.

Maybe also drop some of the bats for a Vargulf.

Big D is right, that Vargulf is one nasty SOB, don't under estimate him. Chris used one on me to nasty effect.

thinking about it.
i can fit in the vargulf dropping some of the units down to 40 ghouls each and 20 skellys . along with a unit of bats i recon thats about the cost of a vargulf.

then i can have something to thunderstomp thats not a lame-ass-u

I think you might wanna test ghoulkin and see how it goes for you personally i think being a level 4 is better (more chance of gettings winds / casting on one dice). Something about having 2 units way ahead of the rest of you army doesn't sound wonderful especially because vamps work alot better with support.

with MOBA and Summon Ghouls I assume you are using those 2 extra dice to raise so you could probably drop some out of the units and spend a few turns raising them up to the sizes you want (this might get you around some of the comp limits)

Your BSB might be a bit vulnerable you can fit that banner onto the GG unit itself and bulk out your wight. I know you have lore of metal but relying on that to keep him alive isn't always the best.

Skeles are the best bet for your bunker they can actually get a musician which is a big help as positioning of your lord is key.

you might want to consider a 55 point throw away necro with vanhels sometimes that can be handy.

I found that your magic phase has to be devoted to one or the other e.g. all raising or all offensive so the level 1 might not get as much use as his points would warrant.

Zombies have some issues with when they can charge etc. they need to charge a round after the other unit so they just add ranks by clipping that way only one model can attack back. if they charge same turn you get half and half and zombies with wonderful ws1 t2 die pretty fast. its not nice when your elite unit crumbles because you threw in a shitty unit to get ranks.

Anyways you know where I live if you wanna try test any of your build I have most of the models suggested to/by you:P I'm keen to test my high elves vs some vamps. (Jeremy)
