What you need to bring:
• Your army
• Rulebook (if you have one)
• Army book and FAQ
• Dice, tape measure and templates
• Markers or tokens to represent wounds or spell effects
• Pen and paper
• Calculator
• Superglue (because accidents do happen)

List Submission Date: 21 August 2011

GENERAL RULES

• No “Back of the Book” army lists.
• All armies must use an Army book that has been released in New Zealand for at least one month.
• Chaos Dwarf generals must use the list from the Indy GT book.
• Dogs of War armies may be used as a standalone army, using the rules published in the Warhammer Chronicles 2004, including choices permitted from the Ogre Kingdoms army book as set out in that book if
desired. Regiments of Renown or Albion characters may not be used.
• Dogs of War may take a magic banner from the rulebook in a single unit of pikes, heavy cavalry or paymasters body guard.
• Non-Dogs of War armies may not include Dogs of War, Albion characters, Ogre Kingdoms or Regiments of Renown units in their army lists.
• Ogre Kingdoms armies may take rhinox cavalry. The points will count against the rare unit limit.
• All models used must be of the appropriate type for the troops they represent.
• Weapons, armour options and upgrades chosen from the army list must be shown on the majority of the models in a unit.
• No proxies. If you turn up with a proxied model you will not be allowed to use it. If you are worried, please contact the TO prior to the event.
• No Special Characters.

Rules Queries and TO Rulings
Should there be a discussion about the interpretation of a rule, the players involved should attempt to work it out themselves using relevant rule and army books. Should this fail, the TO can be asked to make a decision. There is no guarantee this decision will be correct, but it will be final.
Many times, a critical moment in a game comes down to mere millimeters. If such a situation arises, players may chose to either roll a dice to determine the outcome, or ask the TO for a ruling.

Terrain and Line of Sight

Players are encouraged to discuss the terrain on their table before each game. Forests and rivers are mysterious terrain, other terrain pieces will be noted if they are other than normal. Hills of any height block line of sight to all models except those with the 'large target' special rule, and buildings block line of sight to all models. Forests, fences, rocky outcrops and all other terrain follow the 'true line of sight' rules. When determining line of sight between models, ignore all unit fillers, banners and the like.

Painting

While beautiful armies are encouraged, there is no requirement for painted miniatures at the Rumble.

SCENARIOS

1          Dawn Attack
2          Capture the Hill
3          Blood and Glory

Winning the scenario awards 500 battle points.

Favourite Army

Wooden Spoon
Everyone loves the whipping boy. The award goes to the person who comes last.

• No Loremaster abilities, if you do have loremaster you need to roll up your spells as normal for your level.
• Max 1 of the same Rare choice except those 100 points or under.

Banned items

• Cupped Hands
• Pendant of Khaeleth

The TO will be reviewing all submitted lists and reserves the right not to accept any list that we think does not fit the spirit of this event. Ye be warned...

SPORTSMANSHIP AND TOURNAMENT ETIQUETTE

All players are expected to act with maturity and respect towards their fellow gamers. As such there will be no direct sportsmanship score. Below is outlined what will be considered standard tournament etiquette. If for some reason a player feels his opponent did not play in adherence with these, you may approach the TO and discuss with him after the game. If the certain behavior is deemed worthy, the player will be penalised 1 tournament point.

Etiquette
• Play in a timely fashion. Of course some armies require more time per turn than another, but it is expected that nothing that could be considered time-wasting takes place.
• Use the correct turn sequence. You opponent is within his rights to deny any go-backs if you've forgotten something, e.g. to shoot with a unit when now in the magic phase.
• Cocked dice. If a dice is in anyway obstructed from lying flat on the table, it should be rerolled.
• Accurate measuring. Ensure that all moving, charging, wheeling, etc doesn't extend beyond the unit's movement capabilities. It is good practice to leave the tape measure down on the table while moving the unit too.
• Call it before you roll it. Before you roll ANY dice, be sure your opponent knows what is being rolled for. In such a case as rolling two units break tests, and no declaration is made, your opponent is within his rights to make you reroll the dice.

Thanks, I look forward to seeing you all there!

PS: "We are asking all players to please forward their email address to the TO. This will be added to the NZ Wargamers database."  Please let me know if you do not want your name and email address to be forwarded to the people making up the NZ Wargamers database, if you do not let me know I will pass all names and emails on.

                                                  CARAVAN

The two armies are travelling in a column with their supply carts, when they notice the enemy travelling on a           parallel course in the opposite direction. Both sides are now rushing to prepare themselves for battle. The enemy’s supplies are within reach and could end their advance in on swift strike.

    Deployment

Roll off to see which player picks the half of the table they will deploy in.   Both players now write down the order that their units are travelling in the column, including where the two supply carts are in the column. Units with the Scouts special rule do not have to be set up in the column. Starting with the player that picked which half to deploy in, both players place their supply column on the table.  The first unit is placed 8-12” in from the left side the centre of the unit being 8” in from the long table edge. Both players then alternate to place their next unit player. The unit will be 1-6” behind the unit in front facing the same direction with the centre of the unit 8” in from the long edge.

After both players have put down their columns, starting with the player that picked the half of the table to deploy in, both players place their scouts anywhere in their half of the table up to 12” from the long edge. in, both players place their scouts anywhere in their half of the table up to 12” from the long edge.

First Turn Roll off after deployment to see which player takes the first turn. The player who finished deploying their column first adds +1 to their roll. The game lasts for 6 turns or until a time limit is reached.

   Victory Conditions
The player who destroys the enemy's two supply carts first scores 500pts.
   Scenario Special Rules
Supply Carts: The supply carts have a movement value of 4, but cannot march. They have Toughness value of 7 and 3 Wounds. It is also Flammable and Unbreakable. If engaged in combat it will be destroyed as if it were a war machine. The supply carts will be given to you on the day.

                          CAPTURE THE HILL

Setup as a battleline battle. There will be a hill in the middle of the table. The player who has an infantry or cavalry unit of 5 or more models ( or 3 models if monstrous infantry/cavalry ) on the hill at the end of the game scores 500 pts.

On the hill means at least half the unit is on the hill.

Unfortunately with such a wide variety of tournaments available and limited 'hall passes' to attend them, the Tronhammer legions must select carefully our deployments. Good luck mate, will be an interesting one!

Sorry dude, i've been skim reading this thread and missed the question mark at the end of your statement.  We could definately have tournaments in NZ with no comp restrictions at all, they would still be good events.  But people around here choose to implement restrictions as  the majority of players feel more comfortable with a more balanced and level playing field - i.e one without game breaking items and army list selections.

Dude, just having a laugh - i've pulled out of guardcon and probably won't be attending the Pukekohe rumble, and i'll be selling my most competitive army soon.  Pretty dedicated to hordes at the moment but if I can get leave from work for Pukekohe (the main reason I wouldn't be able to go) then i'll try and show up with something reasonable such as my (non stank/altar) empire.

Lezle, I thought you could answer this question yourself as you are the maestro at Mordheim. In 'Mordheim' terms why are Elves banned as a warband?

Fear not, Dave, Elves are not banned. I don't have a problem with them at all - I can't speak for others though... for some reason they get frowned upon; I don't know why... but that is a discussion for another thread.

I don't mean to de-rail the thread, once again, but I was just wondering because I was thinking of playing fantasy again - and I was under the impression that the problems of the last edition regarding army composition were no more.

Seems I am mistaken.   Smiley

Thanks. Carry on.

i reckon with the different types of missions that are played now   any army can beat another one on the day

some army setups suit some of the missions and fail badly at others so u need to set up your lists to match the missions played
and also people need to use terrain to their advantage

these are my thoughts on the game

New scenarios not from the rulebook? This gets better and better!

@Lezle - Steadfast plus the rulebook magic lores make most match ups very viable.

The idea of a comp score has basically gone out the window. So have hardcaps, with the exception of a very few. Those few tend to be to remove certain items or abilities that can trivially put a spanner in the works of any dastardly plan you may concoct. In particular, items that make miscasting no big deal are a pain to face, as there is no defense against repeated 6+ dice casts of the most powerful spells.

If you want amusing 'proof' of this, listen to some of the Bad Dice podcast back catalog from when 8th was in its infancy. 'Ok Ben, so how did you win game X of tournament Y', 'Well, I marched forward, powerscrolled the Waagh! spell and that was it'.

You should come along to this event and see what you think Smiley
