How many clubs are there in Auckland and where do they meet?

I'm keen for some club vs club gaming.

I'm sure it could help support the Auckland gaming scene a bit

Here's a list so far:

Auckland Elites - Remuera - Mostly 40K   figfigfigfig@hotmail.com

Auckland Wargaming Club - Balmoral - Ancients, Fog, FoW and other systems    jurassic@e3.net.nz

North Shore Wargamers -   ?        - FoW, Warhammer, ancients, FoG

South Auckland Wargamers - Manukau - Warhammer

America Club- Auckland University - Larpers -  aanconnu@gmail.com

Others

Royal Oak FoW
FTW- Magic, Pokemon, etc.

I heard of a group of guys that meet in Remuera for fantasy and 40K. There is a group in South Auckland that meet for 40K that I have heard as well. Aside from that FoW and Napoleonics is played at the SA Wargaming Club?

SAMWC (in Drury) is probably your best bet... I think a lot of the smaller clubs focus on Historicals, FoW, and fringe games of a similar nature.
Though most have people who also have GW armies somewhere.

IIRC there's a group in Orewa that plays predominantly WFB and 40k.

Which one? :p

No... not that I'm aware of, the only similar type of club I know of (at any NZ uni) is the The AMERICA club, which I think(?) originally spawned the cityguard.

dunno, but you could start with this site: http://www.theamericaclub.net.nz/clubnight
I'm sure someone on here will have been to AMERICA before.

I don't know where Cityguard originated from, those dim dark ages were before my time, though I think they were originally a combined 'effort' from many things.

America is pretty much roleplaying .... S.T.G was the university wargames club but they folded and I believe America may of absorbed some of their gear....

AWC and North Shore wargames are mainly historical but there are a few GW players there

South Auckland wargames play a good mix of all systems

I believe there is/was a Henderson club that played mainly LOTR

AWC is based in Pollard Park in Balmoral on the first and third sundays of the month .... North Shore is somewhere funnily enough on the North Shore and operate the sundays AWC does not....

Yeah... America briefly had Wargamers as a significant demographic before my time (which is a while ago now!), but since I've been there I've been one of a handful of wargamers in the club, and that's basically just been because we're multi-talented gamers.

Paul who ran the 40K at Canopener and Nick are AWC members. They are both on the forum and occasionally game here much like most of the members of the different clubs around Auckland. Have a look at the top of this post for current list of clubs in Auck.

What do you mean?

As far as I know, SAWGC doesnt really do fantasy or 40K anymore. Those players dont really turn up anymore and is mostly the old guard who now play FoW and Napoleonics... .(this seems like dejavu somehow....)

anyways, best person to ask is Placator who last went to their club day a few months back and never got a game. He plays with a group who meet in South Auckland but in a garage, but yet again, best to ask him of details.

Me and jorin both went to SAWC every meeting up until I had to start working saturdays.  They are a good bunch of guys, but with gw systems none of them ever enter tournaments, except for one exception I can think of, and he came last.  Nice place to hang and have friendly games but as with most clubs other than city guard, there much of a case for inter-club competition.

Royal Oak Gaming (Royal Oak Rapscallions/Rabble/Rebels) meets thursday nights at two of the member's flat, pretty keen on FoW (Infantry Aces campaign rolling on well currently) but also play Warmahordes, VAS, Battletech, FoG.

email: royaloakgaming@gmail.com if you are interested.  Cool

This idea is great, would be good way to branch out playing different players outside of tournaments.

Also get a bit of angst going over who's the best, which is always fun.
