Nothing sucks.

Scattergunners are probably the only unit that is more of a larger point game unit. Everything else in Trolls is pretty good.

Time to throw down on the interwebs with what models you like.

Trollbloods seem to be reasonably uncommon around Auckland; but are a very strong faction.

I don't feel qualified to give you faction specific advice, but Privateer Press run a set of very good forums... with both new player and faction specific areas. There's a ton of handy information over there.

EDIT: Also, it's worth noting that this game isn't run by GW; so if you don't have them I can flick you digital versions of the Beta test rules (which are still pretty close to exactly accurate); and detailed, online discussion on the various models is more-than-ok... so asking model-specific questions (on any forum) is not frowned upon.

Nice, another person to add to my list of 'get some games in at cityguard'.  It's good you're going trolls, we need a nice spread of people playing all the factions!

I'm looking at starting Trolls myself ( going to take advantage of the PP special on the web)
whats the issues (esp for tourny's) with two of the same hordes / warmachine factions fighting at each other.
as in can you have two of the same characters? Undecided

The rulebook 'suggests' that you think of this type of matchup as a situation where two rival armies are battling over a dispute to do with someone trying to proclaim him/herself as the true character.  Which one is the real (insert special character name here)?  And who is the imposter?

Alas without an understanding of the rules I find it hard to understand a fair bit of the tactics that I am looking up.

So the models that make me go OOOOOOOOOO are:

Fennblades
Scatterguns
Gunnbjorn

Question:

Would they work together in a list?
What else would I need?

Thanks

Im sitting here staring at a few trollblood models that I havent used in years, so may as well see off to a good home. Appreciate this isnt the buy and sell thread, but given the interst in trollbloods may as well put it out there.

Madrak Ironhide (the orignial one)
Hoaruk Doomshaper (the original one)
Totem Hunter
2x Impalers
1x Axer
1x Dire troll mauler

All assembled and undercoated black, some on micro art studio scenic bases. The very early beginnings of a paint job on the skin of some.

$50 for the lot (suck it GW). Can be picked up in Albany or the city (where I work). Send me a PM if you are interested.... btw I would prefer not to break them up as I cant be bothered mucking around selling them individually.

EDIT: Now sold...thanks for the interest.

Anything works together in Warmachine. Gunnbjorn is a sweet warlock and Fennblades are always boss in a troll list and Scattergunners are due to get a unit attachment soon so they should work fine for you but what you need is Warbeasts to make you some Fury and some of the troll buff and support solos. A Troll Impaler and a Dire Troll Bomber are usually Gunnbjorn's favoured boys.

Daryl's stuff is actually more or less what you're looking for. You also pick up the battlebox (Madrak, Impaler, Impaler, Axer) which is great for getting those rules and tactics down.

If someone wants Daryl's stuff but can't spare the drive to Albany I'm on the shore so I'm happy to ferry them to club.

It's really good to see so much renewed interest in Warmahordes. After a lot of umming and ahhing I've come up with a Retribution 15pt list I'm happy with both in terms of mechanics and in terms of look. I've decided to use my LOTR Elves on a magnetic basing system (part of my 'One Army, Four Game Systems' policy). It might take a month or two to get organised but then I'm keen to join the carnage.

He's a quick run-down of the list and the models I'll be using.

Kaelyssa, Night's Whisper  +7 points (Galadriel)
* Manticore  8 points

Arcanist  1 point (Cirdan of the Havens - being a shipwright he seemed the best fit)
Eiryss, Angel of Retribution  3 points (Legolas - because no-one is more assassin-like than him)
10 Mage Hunter Strike Force  8 points (Wood Elf warriors armed with bows/swords)
* Mage Hunter Commander  2 points (Thranduil - King of Mirkwood)

I'm quite excited because I've kept a Wood Elf theme going and the proxies fit quite nicely, on the whole. I've just got to buy a plastic 'Jack, some magnets and 30mm plastic discs to attach the figs to. What do you guys think? Obviously this would be for casual play only.

Lucky bday is in a few weeks so I can send my wife a few links to click and buy Smiley
