new sci fi game from mantic games???

anyone else heard bout this possible release? allessio c-ex gw wrote it and beta rules up this wkend? 1st races aparently to be armourd and unarmourd humans, space elves and space dwarves!!!

Beta up this weekend? Haven't heard that, this is good news. I've heard a few rumours, there's a thread over in the Mantic section of the Warseer forums. Could be worth a look if it's anything like Kings of War (in the sense that it strips back the rules but leaving the tactics intact). Even with only a couple of races announced the fan community are pretty quick with putting up other lists to use GW figs with, so I'd expect to see a Marine home brew list fairly soon.

And to counter GW's $200 Vampire Blood Knights, Mantic now have the $50 Soul Reavers. I know which ones I'd buy.

Ah, that's what Warpath is! Bear in mind the Beta is out soon, but only available to Beasts of War subscribers. I suspect the rules will filter out soon though through other means...

I take it you're possibly interested in playing, D? Mantic is my new favourite company and I'm keen to possible write/convert a list for my Stargate army. Beats having to relearn 40k 5th ed, eh?

There's no context to the post, but someone seems to have posted the Beta rules n the Mantic forum. It's not clear how the troop formations work but it seems similar to the KOW ruleset in a lot of ways.

Looking around the forum a little more, the rules I linked to are a fan-created set, directly converting KoW to sci-fi. Hopefully the official ones aren't too far away.

Just received my copy of the Warpath Beta in my inbox. Looks really promising. Simple, effective and fast. Anyone keen to help playtest? Only 2 races with rules so far, Forgefathers (Squats) and Marauders (Orks?). 40k figs will serve nicely as proxies.

The rules are in Beta and already the writers seem to have incorporated quite a lot of feedback from the Beasts of War Alpha test. If you want to get in on the ground floor of the new system, let me know.

Next Sunday is the 10th of July. I'd be keen to play on the 17th though. Not sure if you can download the rules direct from the site just yet but people who subscribed to the newsletter were sent the rules a few hours ago. I'm sure they'll be on the Mantic site in the next day or so though.
