Fields of Blood - The New Zealand Warhammer 40k Grand Tournament has a scheduled date for 2012.

The event will be held on the weekend of 7/8 July 2012 in Wellington.

There are places for 100 participants, with an expected 25 of these being filled by Australian gamers.

Further details will be released in the coming months.

You can follow these on thefieldsofblo od.blogspot.co m

Mark your diaries.

Cheers

Pete

Note: The 2011 event was disrupted due to the unavailability of accommodation in Wellington because of RWC.

Whoo!

I suppose you are considering a no-comp event? No comp 2k points, similar to what seems to be a foreign standard, would be great.

Happy to answer the questions.

@Damian -  last year there was no restriction on figures as GW wasn't sponsoring the event (the year before they put up $2000 so they bought that restriction). As i'm not intending GW to be a sponsor there will be no restriction in 2012. However there are caveats. All armies must be painted to at least tabletop standard - No ifs, no buts, no maybes - twelve months is plenty enough notice to get three colours and a wash plus suitable basing on all figures.

@DevlanMiracle - army size is still up for grabs. My preference is 1850 but I may err to 1750 because some people seem unable to finish game in 2.5 hours. Comp is yet to be decided. The power creep in codexes is more noticeable in 5th 40k thand 8th Ed Fantasy, so I'll be doing some thinking. my preference is a light brush.

One thing I will continue is "Best in Race" prizes so that you are also competing against your army book peers.

I'm keen.  Who knows whether I will also be keen a year from now, but I don't see why I wouldn't be!
