Hello All.

I have decided to take this on myself to bring you all a good Tournament and a good weekend. This is my first time running one so there might be some issues on the day but i hope nothing major.

This will run along side Guard-Con Warhammer.

This is how it is going to be:

-Double Tournament

-Each player needs to have a 1000 point list.

-You will join with a partner to make 2000 point army's

-Also an extra 200 point unit/model per player is needed for 3rd turn drop pod assault rule

-The 1000 points and 200 points cant be changed around and what you pick for the 200 points will always be the same models that come in every time.

- Imperial Armour models/squads are aloud but to a max of 250points per model/squad.

- Special characters are in but you are not able to have two of the same special in the same team.

- The players can pick there team mate but this needs to be done before i get the army lists from you and before the close off date

- If people are unable to find a team mate i will try and match you guys as best i can (so this still means you can come)

- Comp is present in this only for the first round.

This is how i will be judging comp.

HQ 15%
Elites 15%
Troops 40%
Fast 15%
Heavy 15%

For every 5% over in the HQ/Elites/Fast/Heavy will be -1 to comp score.
For every 5% over in troops you get +1 to comp score.
If you keep within the % you get 1 point for every category.
If you dont use that Slot eg, Heavy then you dont get a point for it. (those points must be going somewhere).

I have it like this as i think a balanced list is a fun list. Cheese is bad.

Comp is just for first round placing. So if you have cheese you will play with cheese same with balanced and so on.

Draft of my players pack can be found here for download.

https://www.opendrive.com/files?28533094_2uLwy

Please comment and post interest. I am maxing this to 32 players (16 teams), if it goes off next year i might bump it up to 50.

Sounds like fun, I'd like to register my interest, and also my interest for a team mate?

Will you be allowing recently released Codex? I'll be running Necrons if they have a new book before the tournament, otherwise to avoid handycapping my partner I'd be rocking Salamanders with Vulkan Smiley

Pity there isn't an incoming mail for Necrons because I'd buy a tomb stalker as my deep strike unit Smiley

Do special characters rules benefit both armies or only your own?

Special rules only affect that players army unless stated in rules. So no.

New codex are fine along as it comes out over a week before the tournament. If its a few days before then no as most would have not looked over a copy of it.

I am looking at sorting out a package deal with the Hotel right next to the venue for cheaper accommodation.
So if you're intending to stay over for the tournament let me know the preference of Friday and Saturday or just the Saturday night.
I'll post this also in the main Guardcon thread.

Change in Comp system

was finding 5% over was making it to easy to get a good comp score even if it was a cheese list.

This is how i will be judging comp.

HQ 15%
Elites 15%
Troops 40%
Fast 15%
Heavy 15%

For every 1% over in the HQ/Elites/Fast/Heavy will be -1 to comp score.
For every 5% over in troops you get +1 to comp score.
If you keep within the % you get 1 point for every category.
If you dont use that Slot eg, Heavy then you dont get a point for it. (those points must be going somewhere).
Your extra 200 points does not count towards you comp score

Comp system

This is how i will be judging comp.

HQ 15%
Elites 15%
Troops 40%
Fast 15%
Heavy 15%

- For every 1% over in the HQ/Elites/Fast/Heavy will be -1 to comp score.
- For every 5% over in troops you get +1 to comp score.
- % Rounds up so if you have 45.5% troops it goes up to 46%
- Transports point cost are attached to the unit type it is transporting. So if you had a devastator unit in a rhino that would get added onto you heavy support %.
- If you keep within the % you get 1 point for every category.
- If you dont use that Slot eg, Heavy then you dont get a point for it. (those points must be going somewhere).
- Your extra 200 points does not count towards you comp score
- Comp is Out of no score.
- it will highly likely give you a negative number, the thing is with it if the guy next to you gets a -50 and you only get -10 you have a better comp score.
- to get the best comp score you would only get normally a around +5 points.(so dont worry)
- This comp system is just for me to match up teams for first round only this does not go into your end results.
- Make the list how you would like it will all balance out and you should play vs someone with the same strength army.
- So if you get -20 you will play vs any army with -20.
- Also for matching up Team vs Team, You and your partners army comp gets added together to get the total comp score.

Hope you understand that.

Example:

Basic eldar list this is the list i took to can opener and just added in two guardian squads to make to 1k. This army did well at can opener and it not an easy or cheese list.

HQ

 Farseer 160

Troops

Guardian Defenders 130
Guardian Defenders 118
Guardian Defenders 130
Guardian Defenders 118

Heavy Support

 War Walker x3 135
 Support Weapon Battery x1 80

Transports

 Wave Serpent 120

The comp score

toops   616   62%   4
HQ   160   16%   -1
heavy   215   22%   -7

Points   991
Comp   -4

SO even with 62% troops i still get a -4 i would class this as a good comp list with my system.

Hey Lazarus

I'm really looking forward to this!

I have just been looking at the player pack, it seemed to imply that the prizes go to first placed player, and best painted player not team, is that correct or have I just read that wrong? Like wise the painting points, is that judged for the team or the player?

I would have assumed it was judged as a team but it didn't seem to read that way?

painted is offered to a single player not team. As i see if you team mate you are playing with is no good and you are ace why should you suffer.

I think that is fair for painting.

I will look at the other one and get back to you, the player pack you are viewing at the moment is only a draft and a few things have changed in it.

Looking like its going to be a very strong field for this tournament.
Need all you guys who have entered to start giving your teams names so post them up and remember grudges are a cordial hello at GuardCon.

Also I'm undecided wether to put up a perpetual trophy and prizes or just prizes for this tournament. Put your vote on the thread and the most shouts is the direction we take Smiley

Not  a fan of this rule:

Communication is Key

Your HQ model represents your liaison with your ally’s army; if they are lost communications with your ally becomes difficult, at worse, impossible!

If your HQ model (retinue or accompanying squad does not count) is destroyed, and your team mates HQ is destroyed, you are FORBIDDEN to verbally communicate with your ally in any way! Teams that break this rule will LOSE 2 VP!

Firstly I like to rely on grunts to do the job, and as such do not tool up my HQ. This rule seems to encourage HQ tooling boo hiss.

Also, to me, it would take the fun out of a match, and I am there to have fun.

Just my thoughts Smiley

@ Dave > Download the file and open with word

And i like this rule its there as in real life if your command die your grunts would not know what to do.

This tournament is not your normal middle road one i wanted to add in some odd things to spice it up.

Also please advised if file is not working, seams ok for me.
