For the past few days I have been looking through lists after lists of other toy soldier manufacturers for alternative models for GW armies.

After I spent some time matching models with GWs army books, I am tempted to build a Dark elf army out of Hordes models. I probably wouldn’t start this army until later this year or early next year but I just want to put some thoughts together to find some other alternative models other than GWs.

Some of the Legion of the blights models look absolutely fantastic, but some of them look totally crap. The cost of the characters is pretty good but the cost of the units is fairly expensive.

Supreme sorcerer/sorcerer (shepherd solo, avatar of war dark elf sorcerer)

Master on Pegasus (hellion)

Assassin (Bayal hound of Everblight, strider-deathstalker)

Corudlen of blood (spawning vessel and acolyths)

Dark riders (raptors on horse)

Harpies (Grotesques)

Executioners (blighted legionnaires)

Witch elves (tharn-bloodweavers from circle)

Shades (hexhunters converted with bows or striders)

Hydra (Typhon)

Still can’t find any suitable models for black guards, cold one knights, cold one chariot, repeater bowthrower spearmen and crossbowmen.

I know its a long shot, but you could just play some Hordes with said pretty models, that way you need less models...

You could also use the dudes with polearms from the Spawning vessel for Black Guards.

These models look awesome Shocked
I might get some of these, their cheaper than GW anyway.
Do you need circle bases to play Hordes?

Yup, the base size is the most important thing about the model.

when you buy these models they come with the right bases, but you can easily put them on bases designed for the game you want to play such as 40k or fantasy.

Unfortunatey no but they are 30, 40 and 50mm bases which are close enough to 40k sizes for 40k as I understand it.
