If you're taking DoC you won't be needing your Seaguard then will you. That sorts out my army choice. I'll show you how Seaguard should work, if you're agreable, and don't mind being beaten by your own army:)

Mr Gouda running HE wit cheesy Seaguard (they sux), this I have to see. I've got shite loads of organising to do so if you're thinking of borrowing my army then you'd better get the army list to me quick smart. I was gonna take my warriors but Daemons is a go, sweet!

Heroes quota = 25% of total army points?

Your heroes = 505

Max army total = 1600

1600/4 = 400

I might have missed something?

Easily fixed - drop the "Greater Icon of let's not have a real game while you run off the board".

List looks spot on Phil - everything I think we'd expect to see from the typical Daemons list in the current edition (given the point size of the games being played).

I was gonna quote the sly and go 'It's themed' but I'm not like that. It ain't a soft army by all means but it is very squisable. Now for Mr Gouda to post his list and we've got ourselves a rodeo chuck!

I've got the IOB prince on griffon who is sitting on top of a pillar which is on a 40mm base, he's painted as a statue since he's a unit filler.  Can use that if you want.  Could always use nick's wood elf guy on eagle though, that'd be more appropriate.

You don't have enough proper pointy stick delivery systems to petrify anyone Wink
Plus I think this match up is commonly referred to as bringing a gun to a pointy stick fight (see what I did there)...

Keeping the army completely whole and cheesy, I've assembled the complete army of skirt wearers.

Thanks for getting it done in the end Richie, I think a good time was had by all and a lot of hungry homes will have been given some relief.  I don't give a lot of money to charity, and i'm quite wasteful with money in general, so this was a great excuse to get off my ass.  To be honest, I originally intended to get my mother to come in with her ute and top up my can-count up by another 50-100 on top of what I could pack in my car, but I couldn't get hold of her.

As for the games, I guess I can do a bit of coverage when I get my camera back, but kudos to phil & nick to forcing the most cans from me (most legitimately from phil, in nick's case I was just getting silly with them) and to thomas for a really challenging final game.  To play 5 in a row like that, I think we were all pretty drained in that last round, I know that I made a lot of serious blunders in the finale.

Luke 'Vaul' Brimblecombe

p.s shoulda kept a couple of cans that I can use my new solid gold canopnener on Smiley

Thanks to everyone who did their part in making it a success for CanOpener 2011

Cans raised     ~1000
Cash donated ~$200

Most importantly, I proved how sucky Seaguard are with them Elves in skirts scampering home and back to the bottom tier of the Warhammer army rankings.
If we'd played the full 6 turns the remaining 9 Elven bowmen and single RBT would have be burnt to cinders by my remaining massive block of Horrors or chopped up into mince by the even bigger block of remaining Blood letters. 'Mr Gouda' has earnt the title 'Sliced cheese' after a decisive lost and almost getting tabled by 'Soft Daemons Wink

I really wanted to play him!  It would have been funny to have turned those seaguard into rats, nothing is as cheesy as 10dice 13th spam with can re-rolls...

But seriously, sea guard look so good on paper.  I went to the trouble of assembling and (half) painting mine so that I could get my elves back off the shelf, but it was a big dissapointment .  Str3 shooting just doesn't accomplish a lot in 8th ed, because of larger unit sizes and no march blocking, and no half points from units.  A hopeful player can bank on the withering, but again in 8th there are a lot of magic phases where you don't get any spells off at all.

High Elves seem to work best heavily geared towards combat, or with some really nasty magic backed up by spearmen blocks, maybe even bolt throwers, and if you really have to have some light shooting - archers.  They've got the range at least and you're never tempted to commit to silly combats they can't win when strikebacks are involved.

any chance of some feedback from the players.

my 2 cents 4 rounds not 5
2 hours each not 90 mintues

and some hard caps like no more than level 2 mages and 3 warmachines ?

I enjoyed the event and thanks to Richard and the guys I played Joel, Paul, Anthony,Tomas and Ben. Yeah agree with the 4 rounds.
The thing about the toury is that the rerolls play a large part in changing the luck. eg less bad miscasts, getting that really long change in, missing out on that wound on a hero that would have killed them otherwise.
I feel there should be no prize's for places just braging rights and every player gets an entry into a raffle. More can's means more raffle entrys eg. every 5 cans gets you bonus entry or something like that. This also is great for new players as they have a chance to win something.
Then just use normal toury caps. ban hoeth, power scroll etc.
