Hey guys i'd like some input on a matter..
So i want to do a techmarine with servo harness on a bike, it doesn't state once mounted on bike that he cannot take servitors so i want to have one riding shotgun on the sidecar of an attack bike, to add the extra servo arm benefit to his repair rule, but removing the heavy weapon thus rendering it "not an attack bike".
A couple of people say do it anyway, and i will, because it would be another cool conversion opportunity.
Basically can i hoon round on a bike and repair my dreadnoughts on a 3+? Or is it "still an attack bike"?

Cheers, Todd.

Well first a Techmarine cant take an Attack bike as part of his wargear. The codex saying can take a space marine bike for 35 points, not bike/attack bike.

you can take servitors if he is on a bike, but there would be no use. You can only fix models in base to base so they would need to keep up with the bike in order to fix the model and get the add bonus.

you can model a servitor riding shot gun but you could only use him as a count as for his servo harness i say.

Making the model bigger is aloud so modeling in this way is not a no no. But counting it as a tech marine with a servitor will be. you can do this if you only moved the model a max of 6" and classed it as two models and you are able to remove to servitor when he dies. This way will be a waste of points for buying the bike. i say model it as it will be cool and use the servitor as a counts as my servo harness.

I reckon it'd be a cool model, but Matt says it all really. The servitor just can't keep up.

i also reckon it'd be a pretty sweet conversion if done right.  rules-wise, you have to be aware that you wouldn't have the movement advantages so long as the techmarine is joined with the servitor.  there may be further complications as well for having the models on the base for a bike, as opposed to their own bases. there's a reason why there's specific rules around the boundaries for bases and that may pose tricky scenarios for moving past other models and entering combat etc.  but if you only engage in casual play i don't think it'd matter too much

in regards to bases you can always go bigger not smaller. When u go bigger it disadvantages you smaller the other player. so if it was on a 60mm base you should be good. And GW dont run tournaments in NZ anymore so you can do as you please really.

its not so much the size of the base (though if you make a base large enough to fill the tabletop you're taking the piss), its more that you face problems having two individual entities occupying the same base-space.  there's a range of niggly wee tricky scenarios where that'd be an issue, more for the cobweb than his opponent, where rules kind of require the guys to be on their own separate bases.

again, they're only niggly issues, so by-and-large the majority of casual games should be able to work around it.

but even if GW isn't running events, i'd try to keep the models on the appropriate bases if you were entering a tournament.  avoid any potential issues

over all Dont do what you want to do  Grin. Only do the mod for looks but just keen it as a techmarine nothing more.

But overall if you could do this techmarines and servitors would become alot more handy in games.

Techmarines i find are a good independent guy that can do damage in combat and do other kool things, servitors have always been a waste of points.
