20 zip? No, I've been working on an Ork army for sometime. Only problem is some of the ideas I have for it is time and money consuming.

I'll actually post up my ideas on the army in a new thread. See what everyone thinks.

1. Drop comp altogether. It's too inconsistent.

2. More room for the 40k players. We were squished.

In response to [2] the 40K players had exactly the same amount of space as the Fantasy guys, but I can suggest 2 solutions.

1) help set the tables out, that way if you feel there is more space needed you can do something about it.

2) lay off the donuts  Grin (At least that's what my wife was telling me.)

By the way, My wife and I measured out the table layouts. so you can blame us directly  Sad

The spacing between the tables were exactly the same both for fantasy and 40k.
I agree with Derick in say that if you want more space, you're welcome to come help set up Wink

Suggestions:

Would really like to have perhaps maybe an hour lunch on the Saturday to watch some of the demo's around battle cry.
Maybe we should time it so that there would be a mutual 1hr off so the 100 or so guys from warhammer can go support the other hobbies.
I know I was sure keen to check out the armour and steel fighting happening out in the field but had only about 10 mins to do so because of breaks.
How great would it be if about 50-100 of us go support things like that.

One of the things about Battlecry is that it does not have a spectator focus.
I had a friend pop in to 'Have a look' when I played a couple of years ago.
He came and sat down next to me and ask me to explain what was going on
My opponent (it may have been Glen) was very patient
A tournament environment is not for spectators or should we be encouraging spectators at Battlecry?

Would 30 fantasy or 40K players be a distraction for other gamers?
would it be fair on them?

Also people who come and help there friend out after there game is over and give them ideas to beat the other guy.

I have seen this a bit a dude would have lost if he friend did not tell him what to do.

I think there should be a strict no interference rule when you are playing. To stop this what i class as cheating and also to stop distractions from the other player

Good point Derick. One of the ideas Patrick and I have discussed but haven't been able to make work was we rope off the tournament area, so people can look from the other side of the rope but not get into the actual tournament area. And have a demo table and some demo people on patrol along the ropes to explain to any spectators what they are seeing and to show them the game. Only thing is this needs volunteer players and we hardly ever get any players who are willing to volunteer when they could be playing Smiley

Do you think something like this would work and help keep the distance between players and non-players?

We (BattleCry) want to encourage more spectators to our events. More in the door people mean more sponsorship, grants etc and it helps spread the word of our clubs and what we are playing... maybe inspiring some new people to give the game a go. But if it's interferring with the tournament play then we would like to come up with ways of helping solve these issues.

Roping off won't work. The ropes will get in the players way and prevent spectators from seeing any of the detail on the models.(In the case of my models that's a good thing)

You won't get volunteers. Hard enough to get players to help out with the tables.

Yes, your mates should respect your opponent and not offer "friendly" advice.
It is just a game of toy dollies, but it is also a competition. Your opponent has every right to say to your friends, "please move along", and you should back him up.

I think leave it as it is.

Really? I'm sure I saw Fantasy players sitting with chairs back to back, and still having space for people to move past. If I sat down in my chair, and the person behind me done the same thing, there was basically no space at all for a person to move between our chairs.

If they were the same spacing, then I also agree we could all do with more space between tables.

My suggestion would be after registration, getting everyone to setup the tables then announce who is playing where, will share the workload around.

To my untrained eye it looked like the Fantasy players had more room on day one. Then after we rejigged the tables at the start of day two we had HEAPS of room - it was fantastic. Seems like 40k was a bit of a victim of it's own success size-wise.

i came as a spectator and loved what i saw, but there should be some limits on where spectators can go, interfering by bumping and asking questions can slow down the game and piss off the more serious player's. and helping your bro out in the game cause he is doing something wrong is just.......wel l wrong.

although i would like to report i saw one game with one of the younger of the wargaming flock. where the opponent helped the wee blight out with some friendly reminders to better his game....that was cool

I think space wise it might be better if we switch the 40K and Warmachine (+ small events in middle areas) to fit better. That would provide enough space for 40K to extend depending on the players and the smaller events are easier to move about to fit in. The middle of the hall wasn't really used well. Would that work better?

Yeah that sounds like a good idea, the middle row was fairly empty it seemed. I still say incorporate table setup into the players beginning of the day to save some hassle too Smiley

I completely agree with you on that point. It is really annoying when your playing someone and their friends surround the table and offer advice to your opponent.
