Yesterday I tried to get some collector models from UKGW and usually the shipping cost is around 10 pounds for 50 pounds worth of stuff. however when I check out with 39 pounds of models yesterday, they wanted 87 pounds for shipping@!!!

WTF man, are they nut?? 87 pounds postage for less than 50 pounds of models???

you sure their system didn't balls up and accidentally skip a decimal?

still, that's some pretty premium shipping there, your models better be getting first class treatment, caviar and champers, hitting on the stewardesses and getting shown around the cockpit

I have been charge many times more than what i have bought from mail order. but never that much. FW post is getting cheaper than GW,

But u can now mail order most things from OZ now and get free shipping so have a look there before you buy, also try and buy from the USA also our money works out better.

no I tried to order from US GW as well, they charge roughly $119 USD for shipping.

no, thats only standard shipping, if you want express, it is close to 100 pounds.

Yeah, FW charges 15% of the total no matter what you buy, which works out ok due to weak pound compare to NZD.

OZ GW is ridiculously expensive, and US GW also charges a lot for shipping.

as far as I know, maelstrom can no longer order direct only models and cannot order collector models...

Does this mean that ordering direct only is still cheaper from the U.K. than buying from N.Z even after postage?

it could be due to it being XMAS and the bad weather at the moment.

I think you missed the point, I know maelstrom is cheaper, however maelstrom does not stock all the models I want, and if you want some of the collector or direct only models, you have to get from GW.

could be due to being Xmas and they know they will make the biggest sale of the year, and pounds are crap, and GW want to get the most out of their customers around the world, hence they try to force people to buy from their own country.

I'd be able to help... with getting the stuff, but no idea how I'd get the cash off you guys (I don't do paypal)... or what postage would cost, until I was at the post office.

Its probably forcing you to pay GW NZ retail price for shipping to NZ... makes sense to me - most international on-line suppliers won't ship overseas when there is a 'local' on-line store.

Postage costs don't change with Xmas, weather etc... things just get delayed.

That said, as a warning....

I got a (non-GW) Christmas present for my daughter from a US web-site. They only delivered to US (there was a UK-store of same company, but they didn't have the product we wanted), so my friends in US then posted it to us.

The present was £70, inlcuding £10 postage within US... it cost £67 to post from US to UK  :'(

Doesn't look like there is much of a way around this Sad

I'm glad I've got all the direct items I need currently, that's pure insanity.

I ran into the same problem and contacted GWUK to ask them.

They said the higher shipping was a system change to charge the rate that ensures people get their package by Xmas. They indicated it would drop after 25 Dec.

I dont believe them.

ebay is always good for some of that direct stuff. But at the end of the day we all hate buying from GW and always keen to find somewhere cheaper. Even vaga is over price compared to some online stores.

Come on i can get a battle force for $95 bucks, but you by off the shelf for around $190, now thats a mark up or what.

Just curious, does anyone know if GW uses the same in country support per purchase thing like Wizards of the Coast does? ie Wizards do the "this is how much NZ sells in country in stores, so this is how much we will plow back into local events" thing and anything bought off-shore doesn't get included.

Does anyone know if GW does the same thing? Just curious if people buying out of country actually helps other countries events and disadvantages the support GW will give to NZ events....

I order any GW stuff I want through the stores since they can get anything in their big extensive catalogue book and I don't have to pay for the shipping Smiley
