In your own magic phase, per magic user
If you failed to dispell a spell, you can no longer dispell. How about casting?

If you failed to cast a spell, you can no longer cast. How about Dispelling?

The line I read in the book related to dispelling, but there was a slash used (cast/dispell) which brings an ambiguity into it. does this mean and/or ?

If a caster fails to meet a casting roll, he cannot cast for the rest of that magic phase. Same goes for dispelling, although you can continue to dispel as an army with no bonuses. (Unless you are Dwarfs, but we be special)

Actually in the FAQ's, I think this answered the question
Page 37 – 5. Next Spell
Change 'all his casting attempts' to 'all his
casting and dispelling attempts' in the last sentence.

So if your mage fails to dispell, he can't cast any more either.
And if your mage fails to cast, he can't dispell either.

so roll 12 power dice, roll 2 dice at a dispell attempt. Fail the dispell attempt, end of magic phase for that mage.
If he is the only mage, can your army use the remaining power dice, to dispell other remains in play smells?

I remember commenting on the unexpected clean bill of personal hygiene at the start of the competition. Sadly the decline even with ample ventilation was scary to behold
