The Battle Line bonus objective (unit in deployment zone) requires units with ranks of 5 or more. Do Ogre Kingdoms Monstrous Infantry units also need to have ranks of 5 or more to be eligible for bonus points?

As per the Monstrous Infantry rules a full rank of Ogres is considered to be 3-wide.

To annoy everyone... Indy GT list needs FAQ-stuff. (Nick's ones from the last event was fine, btw, if you want to not have to think about it)

Not a problem - what's the gist of the issues? Did anyone complain about the results of Nick's FAQ?

The unit types aren't clear, mostly. As I was trying to say, Nick got it right, I think. (Bull Centaurs are cavalry, the various Daemon Engines are Monstrous Creatures sans Swiftstrider, the gimmes are gimmes)

Just want to note that, not being a GW book, there's no GW FAQ updating it to 8th. Sad

So it's all common-sense stuff? Nothing terribly weird?

I think it's all "well duh" myself. (the unit types I mentioned are the most debatable: Bull Centaurs could be shoved into Infantry or War Beasts, but they're a poor fit in either and Centigors are Cavalry, and the Daemon Engines should IMO be classed the same as Salamanders, since they're on the same base size, have comparable fighting prowess, and both have handlers)

This is a post from my blog and I thought it might be worthwhile reproducing it here for the benefit of all the players who received the pack and would be referring to this thread...

Quote
The players pack (and sample army lists) have gone out to all the players on my email database. Given this database now includes over 100 players and there is a 40 player limit at FluffyCon (as carefully and clearly expressed in the email I sent out) I hoped to get an immediate reaction.

Far out - I was not to be disappointed!

With the pack going out last night I've already had 10 positive (i.e. "Sign me up - I'm coming!") responses, including one from a player who heard about FluffyCon from a friend (and I didn't even have him on the database)! Excellent!

All the feedback and communication so far has been extremely encouraging - not just players congratulating and thanking me for the pack but also sending through some extremely neat and highly appropriate lists.

I must admit I was (somewhat) apprehensive about the reaction from the community. I'm really asking players to step out at this tournament and really try hard to get into the spirit of the event. Early evidence suggests to me this is potentially going to be far more successful than I had initially hoped. List feedback so far has been constructive, quick and efficient and the players are taking my advice on-board readily. Kudos to the players I've already had the pleasure of having an email conversation with - I'm extremely encouraged by your approach to this event. The lists so far are fluffy and AWESOME! Magic items are practically non-existent, full commands are flourishing, and there is a huge diversity of units within each one... looks like the sample lists idea is paying off.

Probably worth noting that the lists I've received have required minimal tweaking and advice from me. No "rebuild from the ground up" type discussions (yet).

In a different thread, you suggested that Orc and Goblin war machines might behave as if they failed a panic check at FluffyCon if the spell Waaaggh was cast. Given the new Orc and Goblin FAQ, will this still be the case?

The FAQ St. Nicholas is referring to is:
Page 41 – Waaaggh!
Change '...war machine crew will abandon their
machines...' to '...this spell does not effect war
machines...'

(note: st. is not a typo, Nicholas has his papers which says he can have letters, I thought these 2 were good ones so I gave them to him, since I'm not using them)

St. Nicholas

That's my new Brotherhood of Nick name by the way - "Street Nick". It seems Brotherhood of Nick names need to be ironic rather than descriptive now.

The new FAQ rulings (and any other future 'official' GW FAQ rulings) will of course apply and replace any dodgy calls I might make (or have made in the past) Smiley

I note with regret that the Brotherhood of Nick Mate against Mate, Shite against Shite Grudge of the Century can not happen at FluffyCon.

Sorry Nick, no easy points for you young fulla  :-)

Indeed. No easy tournament suicides or bunny hunts at this one.

At least not in the first round... Wink

Being a new player, Fluffycon seems like the perfect event for me to start my warhammer fantasy career.

And by "perfect" I mean "not lose 20-0" every match.  Tongue

Count me in as a definite contestant. I've sent an email.

Bit of list-building insight for the casual and curious observer:

Highest Fortitude in a single list so far = 11

Average Fortitude from across all the lists received = just over 9

Ah, but you did help raise the average nicely Cheesy

What's an average fortitude in a regular tournament.

Recent tournaments have been played at 2400pts so the break point is 3 (1 for every 1000pts, rounding up). I can't speak for others but my Fortitude at the most recent event with my Vampires was 7 (General, BSB, 4 unit standards) and when I ghosted at Arch-Enemy with Phil's High Elves they would have had Fortitude 7 too.

I expect higher Fortitude at FluffyCon because more units should have (full) command upgrades (including some you normally wouldn't give it to... like a recent list I received containing two units of 5 Dark Riders and EACH ONE had full command).

Certainly makes the Blood and Glory interesting if someone with Fortitude 11 plays someone with Fortitude 4!

I don't know that fortitude is that big a deal.

A lot of armies field an uber block, A unit with a standard, General and BSB, so as long as that block is alive, they hold the fortitude.

If you break the uber block you generally win any way, whether in fortitude test or just battle points.

thats another reason why higher Fortitude army = fluffier army.
