Henry Poor is going down faster than an emo's self-esteem...

Have a safe trip for all those travellers making their way up to the tournament.
Good luck to all the competitors that could make it for Equinox this year and support the war gaming scene.
See you bright and early tomorrow for kick off.

Don't forget that if for any reason you can't make or will be delayed please don't email me now, text instead Smiley

Thanks Phil for organising Equinox. It was an awesome weekend. Thanks to Steve, Haydn and the other TO's for running events. And thanks to those who took away a bag or two of rubbish, it was most appreciated.

@Pete, Jack and Charlie,

The site looks cool and I recommend it to everyone to have a look. The Bat rep is pretty awesome with the graphics Jack, and I must get me one. Well The Batrep was so good it inspired me to do one too : )

Well with the Tournament run and over I thought I'd do a Batrep of the only game I had over the weekend. For everyone and future Equinox attendees there is a Saturday night Teams event run alongside the main tournament for Fantasy and hopefully for 40K next year as well. I led the Southern Team of Mal, Basil, Simon and Myself and we were pitted against the TronHammer Team of Tim L, Dan B, James and Jordan. The Tron team was coming off an impressive first Tournament day and 3 of their team was amongst the top ten with one of their members leading the competition.

Trust me to pick the Daemon list with no less than the guy who had run over my list (which was the ghost list for the tournament) already once today. Dan's a great chap and I was sure and rightly proved a fantastic sport and worthy adversary. So here are the Army lists :-

Soft but hard but good Daemons  Grin

Keeper of Secrets
2 Tzentch Sorcerers (1 on Disc, 1 Flapping around with wings)
1 Choppy Khorne Herald
2 Big blocks of Blood Letters (~30 ea)
6 Furies
4 Fiends
6 Flamers
3 Swarms

Squishy but armed with pointy tooth pick High Elves... erm yeah!

Archie with Shadows
Noble (General) Reaver bow ... Shooty
Noble BSb                          ... Big Axe
Big block of Phoenix Guard
Big Block of Whitelions         ... Mad butcher apprentices
Even bigger block of Spears
18 Archers                         ... Pointy stick delivery systems
12 Archers
Dragon Princes  (walk on water, dance amongst tree's banner)
Eagle
Lion Chariot
Tiranoc Chariot
RBT

Gazing at Dan's army it looked like I didn't have anything to deal with his Greater Daemon. So it seemed like I'd have to settle for some points by taking out his flying stuff and possible destroying one of the blocks to get some points whilst making sure I didn't lose my whole army. We rolled for missions and we got Blood and Glory with me on the side with two convenient hills so good start.

Deployment:
I chose to deploy with the two archers blocks defending the flanks and the bulk of my infantry stacking the right side of the table. The chariots and the Dragon Princes were to the left of the main army in the hope of stopping the Daemons advance from my armies left flank. Dan deployed his two blocks of Bloodletters on either flank and stacked his Keeper, Fiends and Swarms ready to engage my chariots and cavalry on the middle of his deployment. The block of Bloodletters with the Khorne Herald faced my massed infantry. The two Sorcerers where flying around at the rear just behind this big block of Daemon Infantry. So with a hand shake and a mutual wish of good luck we began.

1st Turn:-

I managed to get 1st turn and took it so I could cause at least a few casualties before having to combat some soft hard Daemons. Amidst the hail of Magic and pointy sticks a couple of Daemons plummeted back to the nether world... Chaos was having a good day it seemed darn ward saves. So the Scared Elves waited.
Daemons predictable plowed straight ahead with the Keeper positioned so that a gentle Siren Song would have my Dragon Princes the first meal the Greater Daemon feasted on. Flamers Charred the Phoenix Guard with bunkered Arch Mage and due to a lucky hill in the way only took 1 casualty (24x Str4 shots at T3 by the way). The Other block moved off with the Swarms to finish of the Archers protecting the weak Left flank. Magic was uneventful as dice were low on both sides.

2nd Turn:-

Silly Dragon Princes Plows into Keeper due to Siren song and the tiranoc chariot join them as well hoping to at least cause 1 or two wounds. A stack of 1,2 and 3's fail to hit or wound the Greater Daemon and it takes great pleasure in routing the Dragon princes who flee with only one straggler left. Amazingly the chariot sits there happy to trade blows with the tower daemon who so far is absolutely untouched. Mean while a barrage of pointy sticks prove effective at last and 'Shooty' the Noble fells himself a Tzentch flying Sorcerer and the archers account for a brace of Bloodletters. The White lions move to 10 outside of the Bloodletters Charge range and the Spear block position themselves to take a charge or flank charge if the Daemons proved impetuous. The Phoenix Guard turns to the left expecting a greater Daemon and some fiends in a turn or so after the chariots been ground to dust.

Daemons turn proves a good one as the Keeper and the fiends destroy the chariot and are now in position to rock up my left flank only impeded by some Phoenix Guard. The Khorne Herald caused so much Blood frenzy that a mere 10 to roll was nothing and the Bloodletters slam into the Whitelions and offer their flank to the Flanking HE spears. Obviously these Daemons know that pointy sticks are not worth a care. Combat is bloody and even with 4 wounds to save the herald stands strong as his wards bounce them off to leave him free to bat some whitelions into a bloody mess and 9 Whitelions die a choppy death. Whitelions die good but they are also stubborn... well with a BSB (who had just got out of the way, bugger getting K-blowed and skipped it to the phoenix Guard) reroll they are pheewww. On the left flank 12 archers hack at Swarms and look straight at a train of bloodletter death.

Turn 3:-

A hail of arrows at the other Tzentch Herald and with 'Shooty' and the RBT I thought he had no show but Daemon wards are strong and he survives on 1 wound. Magic was eventful and with the Bloodletters in combat with the Whitelions and a flank charged spear block the Daemons toughness was reduced to 1. A mass of pointy attacks and daemon wards save the majority of the wounds and even White lions Str6  still don't manage to kill the herald. The Archmage cunningly moves from the PG into the large archer block away from impending Greater Daemon charge.

Keeper moves with the fiends just out of charge arch of the PG (as if they wanted to charge Roll Eyes ) and threatens the back lines of the HE army. Tzentch herald moves miles away to get away from the hail of pointy sticks and promptly blows himself up in a hail of thunderous magical fireworks. The combat doesn't go well this round for the Bloodletters and spearmen murder the rest of the T1 horde with the Whitelions holding aloft the Khorne heralds trophy head. The Left flank is engaged and the archers stand against a massed bloodletter block is heroic but surely ill fated.

Turn 4.

Time for a hail mary as the 18 Pointy stick delivery systems align to face the towering greater Daemon. A magicall wither on the daemon and suddenly Daemon T6 goes to a more manageable T3. Who said Str3 shooting wasn't effective... I think that was me. The game was over at this point and the only thing that we needed to check was if the Spears with my General would be annihilated by some Flamer bbq death which they survived.

17-3 win taking into account extra points for breaking my opponent and sending the daemonic horde screaming back to the warp.

Great game against Dan and it proved that Daemons are a very attacking and offensive army but beware pointy sticks.

might as well add mine

My team game was up against James? (or was it Jordan? sorry I can't remember) from ChCh who has a heavy magic vampire count army.

WOC turn 1, sorc lord's first spell miscasted, rolled double 1, added 1 using infernal puppet, rolled a 2 and sorc lord disappeared into the warp.

VC turn 2, vampire lord miscasted, rolled a 5, used infernal puppet to reduce it to a 4, vampire lord rolled a 3 and joined my sorc lord in the warp.

Warriors cleaned up the undead.

17-3 Win, game over.

one of my quickest game ever.
