Heyall.

So I'm needing some practise for FoB, but I can't find what seems to be a "typical" list on the internet. This is probably because they don't exist yet - peeps are still trying to figure out what works, but I'm still suprised at how few 8th ed lists are coming out at all. All that seems to exist are, ehm, beginners posting "F1rst 8th ed list Goblinzz lololol" threads where they find they can fit about 89 Big Bosses into 2400pts. Good job kid.

This isn't quite what I'm after.

So if anyone has found links to an actually developed and tested 8th ed army (preferably not WoC) it would be awesome if you could post them. Or even your own lists, provided you aren't too up-tight about secrecy - like I am. Or, if you don't want to share your own list, share your mate's instead. Roll Eyes

Cheers,
Joe.

Thats just it, joe - a lot of people are keeping things quiet for their first tournament, because it's common knowledge that people don't know what the best list choices are yet.  Therefore it's more likely you'll be able to surprise your opponents and comp judges with your sneaky cheese.

So far though, most people agree that the following are pretty good;

- Level 4 wizards, using lore of life, shadows, death or possibly beasts
- Big horde units of cheap troops but with high str attacks (such as great weapon marauders or dwarfs)
- Monstrous infantry ranked 3x2, 4x2, or even 6x3
- Warmachines with templates to help deal with the above mentioned troops
- Magic items such as power scrolls, ironcurse icon etc will become fairly commonplace
- unridden monsters with breath attacks
- Twin lords - one wizard, one fighter, and then a BSB is almost a must, for the leadership advantages

So basically if you just write up a list with things like that in mind, you get a picture of what 8th ed lists are like.

Cheers Luke. Some good pointers.

I managed to find a nice HE list eventually - and promptly destroyed myself with it. I'd like to think I just had a bad machup, but I may need to do some serious rethinking.

Playing against yourself is a very strange and sad feeling. I can't recommend it to anyone, and for once, just once, I kinda wished I lived in Auckland...

Hey Joe,

What list are you running with these days? If you got a mock HE army I can give you a Internet game online. With Harry away overseas you'd be hard pressed to find an opponent out your way. Give us a PM and we'll sort it out mate.

The book of hoeth + banner of sorcery combo is pretty scary now, but you've also go the comp friendlier option of staff of solidity - very cool item now.  Of course, you could just go for mass shooting like phil!

Here's a couple more theme's I've seen online:
1) Cannons are taken if they can be
2) Double tap rares are being flirted with
3) Scouts and fast cav are getting a look in as war machine hunters (now that war machines are easy to kill).

You should try and get your hands on the lists from CTA this weeked. There seems to be a good bunch of lists. Tom Dunn's demon list is the best '8th edition' list I've seen, he certainly knew what he was doing an wiped the floor with me. Just don't copy my list, I'm on 13 points from 3 games Sad

Yeah the CTA lists would be fantastic.

Anyone know where I could find them? Pete? Am I allowed them, or do you just want to cruely laugh as I run into FoB with completely the wrong idea?
