When a monster/mounsterous beast is in a challenge, does the stomp/thunderstomp take place on the unit or champion/character? Page refs please.

pg 76
STOMP: A stomp has ASL special rule, and inflicts 1 auto hit , at the model's strength, on one enemy infantry, warbeasts or swarm unit in base contact with the model.
under Thunderstomp: A thunderstomp makes D6 hits on a target unit.... it is otherwise treated exactly like a normal stomp.
pg 102:
if a character accepts the challenge, move him into base contact with the challenger....
. these 2 characters
MUST
direct all of their attacks against each other, they cannot be attacked by any other model for that round of close combat.
so stomp/thunderstomp may only take place on champ/char.

once again, if the target of the challenge is killed before the stomp happens, then the stomp is wasted.

it stated very clearly in the rulebook, if the opponent is slain before all of a model's attacks are made then any excess attacks are lost and cannot be directed against other model.
it is more like the rulebook VS Marcello.

I've just read p103 and it is very clear: I agree, Marcello is wrong.
Quote
If the opponent is slain before all of a model's attacks are made (because a competitor and his mount have mount strike at different Initiative steps, for example) then any excess Attacks are lost and cannot be directed against other models.
Means that the Demon Prince has to pick his targets a little more carefully in the future (or charge in with another character to take the challenge.
