My Brother inlaw and myself are getting back into Flames of war. with kids, wife and a Mortgage its hard to find any $$ for the Battlefront 15mm minis.

So we are thinking about doing FoW in 6mm scale either using C in C miniatures of GHQ miniatures.

We want to get around 2,500pts per army. the areas we are going to start off with are:

Hammer and Sickle: Soviet Red Army Tank Company [Mine] Vs a German Heavy Panzerkompanie [brother inlaws]
Fortress Europe: British Armoured Company [brother inlaws] Vs a German StuG company [Mine]

Has anyone done FoW in 6mm or even 10mm?

I've been doing some research and so far have two options:

Option A:
Half the sizes used for:
  • distances measured
  • bases
  • templates

Option B:
  • Measurement changes to cm rather then inches
  • bases and templates also converted to cm's

Option C:
  • base the 6mm on FoW correct bases.

Haven't read much about Option A. but what little info I did find it seems to be ok.
now the main issues with the Option B is that the artillery templates become to small. one comment was to reduce the templates to 80% or 60% of the original size. but this sort puts it out of proportion.

The game at 6mm becomes more tactical you have more movement to make and most likely won't be able to hit anything until turn 2 or three rather then turn one that can happen in the 15mm scale. we will play on a 6'x4' table.

As for option C this would give you plenty of space to make a nice scene on each base. You would use the standard FoW rules and measurements. the only difference is your minis are a lot smaller. Effectively it won't give you that larger scale feel as you will still have the base sizes used by BF.

SO I was wondering if anyone on here has done anything?

Cheers

Btw: we will be doing an order to either C in C or GHQ if anyone wants to add to this then lets us know. As we can share the postage cost. we were going to do an order with Pendraken Miniatures but have had to change due to the amount of $$$ they were wanting.

well how about doing flames of war in 6mm or 1/285 scale.

GHQ and litko have come up with micro armour templates [eg small scale versions of FoW templates]

they come in two sizes 1/2 and 2/3 scale of the FoW templates.

I'll be doing an order soon [see selling section]

i want to field a mass tank battle but use the FoW rules and lists.
so with these new items i either half the measurements or scale it down to 2/3rds.

should be interesting will post pics once this project is under way. [hopefully sooner rather then later]

necrifying my old post so I update on how my micro-Fow is going.

Since BF deleted my Micro-Fow thread thought i'd try my luck on here.

I am doing a blog on my Micro-Fow as well so feel free to leave comments or ideas.

I so far have 2,000pts Soviet, German and Finnish armies set in the late war Period. Have started to paint up the Germans and soviets as I am still waiting on more armour to arrive from CnC and Scotia.

once my brother inlaw has his Germans painted we'll do a battle report showing you how it all fits together.
