I did indeed hear about this.  No disrespect to your ability, but my money was on Marcello to win the event - but then again that was under the assumption that he was going to bring a hard but well rounded Liz list in a similar way that he brought a soft but full of potential elf list last year and won.  Disappointing news, this.

Don't worry, my money was on Marcelo too.  I've played very few games under 8th, and I'm using daemons which certainly aren't as powerful as lizards as far as I can make out so far.

Sad news that Marcello is no longer coming to defend his title. Even sadder that he canceled the trip over a lousy 5 tournament points. I really don't understand the over-the-top objections being made to the veto stick. As Nick said, the veto was used not necessarily because lists were too hard (if anyone knows what that means in 8th), but where lists were not suitable for the event. How can a person claim to have a better understanding of event suitability than the TO and judges?

Beyond me. Oh well, you may just end up having to beat Marcello on his home turf sometime instead.
