all you have to do is to kill all the temple guards and the Slann is no longer stubborn, which is not very hard to do in 8th edition because temple guards are "forced" to use their halberds in combat, so they only have 4+ save in combat.

Antony almost did it with 6 treekins killed 15 "boosted" toughness 6 temple guards in 4 rounds of combat (2 turns), leaving only 1 left.

Bill's Etheral coach was doing a good job of it too, I was done to 3 Temple guard when we packed up (turn 5).

temple guards are still great for their cost.

they were ridiculously "under cost" in 7th, now they are good for their point cost.

You mean overcost right? Since most people didn't take temple guard for a reason..

Do you actually play fantasy?

I have to defend the PAW here, or though it could be argued that TG ain't called a bunker for nothing.

In the views of my alt-ego 'Mr Fluffy' tomb guard are far too cheesy to have to spend points on. Saurus is a real man's unit needing daring and skill to manoeuvre Tongue That's what you meant right Pete?

Perhaps for 8th Saurus > than bunker?!? What do you think 'Floaty Frog' army owners?

The temple guard point cost is about right yes but now since they dont have a 2+ save anymore its not a very safe place for a slann. The major weakness is the the slann cant leave the unit once it gets down to 3 or so and if he miscasts and gets a template over himself... lots of ouch I think.

Perhaps for 8th Saurus > than bunker?!? What do you think 'Floaty Frog' army owners?

I havent even considered temple guard(cos I dont think they are worth it now), the allure of a flyn slann has been to much for me so far.
The problem with saurus though is that they generally need a scar vet sitting in the front rank to be reliable and able to take the heavy stuff on so the points cost all mount up.

no, I said undercost.

The cost of a temple guard is below what it worths in 7th edition.

It's a pointless debate now so i won't go into it.
But i meant what i said, Temple guard were not necessarily all that great, and gave the lizardmen army less flexibilty than they would without the Temple guard. And because of all the diverters Lizardmen had access to your slann was pretty safe

Under 8th im unsure. I would imagine they are quite good, then again problem with all elites is.
How many regular troops do I  get in there place? Is it worth me spending Lots of points, a few points. It's all about balance

I'm not debating at all,

I'm just replying to your question, and my answer is "no, I said undercost."

it matters little to me whether anyone else agree with me or not.

what he said Smiley

I agree with Simon.
Temple guard are still good. Yes they lose a little, because they are no longer 2+ save with Hand weapon and other rules changes and the way the game has changed
In someways they are better for the same reasons. They are no longer frowned on as much.
Its still the best place to bunker the Slann.
