Back in the days of yore Phil ran a tournament called Equinox. Some legend player won it, not important right now who that was...

Anyway, part way through that particular event I was happily butchering my way through the field and in the last round came across one Antony Kitson.

This bold and ambitious youngster has fast gained a reputation as one of the up-and-coming players to watch on the Warhammer scene. In fact this egotistical upstart was so bold and ambitious that he bravely suggested a little wager to "make the game more interesting". I was keen to let him keep his honour and retract this rather rash and thoughtless (and I might add, overly confident and self-assured) challenge, but several bystanders applied a modicum of peer pressure and I was swayed by my fans to consent to his senseless demands.

The bet:

- if I lose, Kitson gets to choose my army for Tin Soldier 3
- if he loses, I get to choose his army for Fields of Blood

2 hours later and a couple of timely ward saves to protect my harmless and frankly inoffensive and incredibly innocent Herald from some Tress of Isoulde/Flaming Lance cheesey Brett-dirt shennanigans and I walked away with a 16 - 4 win.

Fast-forward to the release of 8th edition and the not so subtle kick in the pants that some armies received (deserved or not).

And so here we are and I present you dear readers with a choice. What army should I make our good friend Antony play?

And just to make it a bit more interesting again... I'll be grudging him Round One at Fields of Blood. How sporting is that?! Offering him the opportunity to regain a shred of dignity! Where's a thumbs-up smiley emoticon when you need one?!

Vote for one of the above armies or make your own suggestion. The only conditions on offering another option is you must be able to provide an army for him to use (the three above are accessible options assuming Skeletor is ok with lending Ant his Woodies or TKs) and that the army sucks to use in 8th edition.

I'd suggest Vampires... but I'm taking those Grin

Nick - "Man, Wood Elves got the nerf in 8th edition"
Antony - "Suck it up you, dry your eyes, Wood Elves have plenty of good options in 8th, they'll do fine"

Hey Ant, guess which way I voted? I'm happy to lend you my army of course Smiley

His style of play is probably less suited to wood elfery too.  Plus, you want to rely on three things in 8th;

- infantry/ogresized
- magic
- warmachines

I don't think the wood elf book cuts it on those, so to win I think kitson will really have to focus on trying to turn his spellsinger into a dragon, and painting up a billion eternal guard or treekin.

How are you going to keep the 'Gouda Master' title if you get dragged through the streets with a donkey kart Undecided At this rate you are gonna have to change to 'Semi Churned Butter--- Not that cheesy at all'  Wink

Whens a white coat, funny hat and a zimmer, style??

You may prove all us all wrong with that WE army though.

You know ... Wood elves aren't that weak in 8th. You just need to get the right build, and is possibly matchup orientated

I'm flattered that you all care so much  Smiley

I'd be happy to give any of these armies a go. As far as I am concerned all of the armies got "better" with 8th, it is just that some armies got relatively "less better" like VC etc.

Cheers Nick - if you could indicate to Antony what is available that would be excellent. I hope to not face his theoryhammered 3 units of 30 Glade Guard... Mind you he's into the "game of skill" and the subtleties of chucking a bucket of dice a la 40k might just be right up his alley.

I suggested to Antony that he let you design a list for him (being a highly experienced Wood Elf general yourself) - I won't repeat here the language he used but suffice to say I suspect a Great Stag backed up by a ream of cotton wool is not his style.

Called it here first - I bet he goes for a Level 4 with dispel dice reroll staff gimmick. Cheesey monkey - my poor little Red Fury choppy death killing machine Vampire Lord will be heartbroken...

I'd like to suggest Derek's spider riders, but I can't really volunteer someone else's army, can I?
I also don't own any models to have him play a mass of gnoblars.

I think El Fromage will be canny enough to do well with WE's, but I'd rather he had his hands on those thorny woodies than another army.

The Spider Riders will run again, after the next book comes out which makes gobbos Initiative 6 and Savage Orcs Magic resistance 1... let the rumours begin Wink
