I'll take you up on that. I need a practice game for CTA!

Cheers for the game!
Luke's advice to swap the fighty Highborn for a lvl 4 life wizard was right on the money! I think I'll be including that in the list I submit for CTA.

thanks for the credit Wink

For anyone that hasn't figured it out yet,

- Having a level 4 wizard makes it really hard for the enemy to keep up with your magic phase if they don't also have a +4 to dispel rolls in keeping up
- Conversely it makes it hard for you to keep up with the enemy level 4 if you don't have one of your own to dispel his stuff
- It is FAR easier to get the spell you want, now that you can REPLACE a spell selection roll of a double with the spell of your choosing
- The rulebook lores are very good!  Lore of life or beasts seems like a must for wood elves
- Even if you get down to 2 wounds from miscasts, the enemy gets no points for your general.
- With combats a little more likely to go into further rounds in the new edition, supplementary magic can be critical.  Also, magic is one of the few ways to control large crowds of models and cut them down to size, so it is likely you will see a lot of magic reliance in 8th (just my own view there, a little less objective).

The magic phase can also be a non-event, depending on the dice.
With the game I had with Richard, we were rolling double 2's and miscasting the first spell quite a bit, there may have only been one or two phases where magic actually did anything.
I think this situation was more the exception to the rule.
