Looks pretty basic... I was expecting a few points value changes etc... but I guess the immediate rules essentials are updated.

I figured that the imperial banner would have been updated but it wasn't.  Also, since high elves needed less core and were allowed more specials in 7th, I was secretly hoping that would have been mirrored in 8th rules, but I guess my high elf collection won't be legal at 2000pts+ until I get some sea guard.  Well I guess i'll be getting the isles of blood set or whatever.  We'll see.  They might just stay on display on my shelf.

Man,i'd be filling that core out asap.HE are kick arse now or atleast there sword masters and white lions are with ASF not effecting ASL

Q. The Speed of Asuryan special rule states that “all High Elves
have the special rule Always Strike First, regardless of the weapon
they are wielding.” How does this interact with a great weapons
Always Strike Last? (p43)
A. The army book will take precedence in this situation. For
example, a Sword Master would strike first with his great
weapon. If his Initiative value is equal to or higher than his
opponent’s, he will also benefit from a re-roll to hit.

Man this is good

I was about to post that simon.  Anyone that has a lizardmen army in their collection should just field that and always have a slaan with that item.  It's just silly not to.  Can anyone find a better 8th ed item?

Much to my surprise there is no errata for the Bretonnian trebuchets.
So they will be hitting pretty hard in comparison to stone throwers.
I can see several "captured" goblin rock lobbers being deployed.

Some interesting reversals of existing/previous FAQs, and some seemingly arbitrary nerfs. Wood Elves can only deploy their free wood in their own deployment zone now? WTF? Tongue

I also was hoping for a bit more in the way of balancing, but I guess I'll have to play some games to see what it really means

No complaints there. Pity Wardancers are nowhere near as good as they used to be Smiley
That's one of the interesting reversals to previous FAQs. The other was the Helm of the Hunt being allowed on Wild Rider heroes.

Warshrines don't get Thunderstomp.
Booooooo!

Also, if you give the Book of Secrets to a Sorcerer Lord, he becomes lvl 1 and knows a single spell. WTF is that? lol

One thing that made me laugh was the ruling about the fellblade.  If you cause a wound to yourself with it, you aren't allowed your own ward save just like the enemy isn't.  Of course, the warlord won't have spare points for a ward save since it costs 100, therefore this ruling only applies to grey seers using the fellblade while riding a bell!

It did occur to me to try that before the ruling came out, just for amusement in case the bell rang high enough to give him some extra attacks to use the blade with.... but along comes gw and sucks the fun out of even the least viable idea ^_^  How cool (although stupid) to have had your grey seer using the fell blade, riding a bell?

Makes sense raw though.

The next edition is out.
Version 11 (?) according to the file names.
This may get changed to 1.1 through another errata - wait that would be 1.2

http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/content/article.jsp?categoryId=500004&pIndex=1&aId=3000006&start=2

So download everthing again - delete your old files, and if you've printed everything off, put in on the fire.

This one is interesting from the woodentops (ancient TV show for kids) book.

Q. When in a round of combat is a Wardancer unit required to select
their Shadow Dance? (p19)
A. At any point in the combat phase before they attack. The
player whose turn is taking place chooses when exactly this
decision is made.

So, IF you can find something in your army with high enough initiative, you can make your attacks your turn making your kills and deny them the dance of the 4+ ward save. Presumably they have to put on their special ballet shoes for that one.

*sigh*
I really really love that they are being more proactive with erratas, but really... A little outside help would do them some wonders...

I don't much miss the moonstone boost, that has already ben given and taken away before. Very very happy that characters on elven steeds become fast cav - otherwise Wild Riders were in trouble! It does mean that the stag might go back on the shelf.

I'm waiting for the Errata that includes 'Steam Tank takes a mechanical failure test every turn'. Roll a D6 on a 1-2 the thing packs up like a 1960's Skoda! 3-4 it runs outta petrol and you have to sit there thumbing a ride 5-6 The player who owns two gets hit ova da head wit a block o cheese Grin
