We are just trying to raise funds so we can buy table tops for the venue and also get in a few games of 8th edition under our hats. I'll aim for a friendly weekend of pushing tin soldiers around where you can grudge a mate or someone you haven't played before. Expect some hardcaps and the horrific and unseemly armies to be veto'd.

That's 600 points minimum of core for all you cheesy sods (looking you at Mr TO). Would be cool to see De-ron (thought it was spelt D-ron?) playing. I didn't know he Warhammer'd.
I suggest a very detailed map in the players pack. That place is stupidly hard to find.

The Venue is quite easy to find and I'll draft a decent map if the one now is not sufficient.

600 points of HE spearmen vs 600 points of Chaos Warriors... I don't like your odds. Damn, I'll even let you charge! HE Spearmen are overrated. They never had a problem with number of attacks/hitting, they just hit like men in dresses. That and all the return attacks... Nope, I win.

The format will remain the same for most tournaments Daemion and special characters won't be allowed. Chaos Dwarfs are Indy GT and Dogs of War will not be allowed regiments of renown. I'm sure Trolls will still be allowed to be a massive block and vomiting will be funny as for your attacks. Just remember that Lore of fire is a much better lore with 8th.

Do you guys think that australasia will tend to ignore the no triplicate rares thing in the rulebook and slap a hard cap on no double rares like last ED?  Because if i'm STILL going to be facing the prospect of double hydra, double flamers unit, double screaming skull, double steam tank etc... I might go out and buy another doomwheel.  But theyr'e expensive!  Anyone wanna put in some input on this, or sell me a second hand one?

You can always scratch build your own doom wheel.
If you make it out of chocolate wagon wheels, it can double as a tasty snack

My son has 3 of them, I'll ask him if he wants to sell one off. (real ones, not choc wagon wheel ones)

I thought it was 25% rare, with the caveat that you were not allowed any more than two of each rare choice until you got to 3k. So you could take 2 Hydra and 2 BT's but could not take 1 hydra and 3 BTs

almost right, except that in the dark elf case, repeater bolt throwers are 2for1 and even in the new rules count as only one rare choice.  Still... although general units in 8th ed are better able to deal with:

"double hydra, double flamers unit, double screaming skull, double steam tank etc"

Does that mean they now result in fun, balanced, fair games of warhammer? That is the topic at the moment.

Hey Guys,
 
Fast approaching the end of the year so we've started on setting up the venue. Trophy and table tops have been organised so therefore we need the moolah. Would like to have people confirm their entries with a generous $25 donation to the cause (Entry fee). This will increase to $35 after 7th August, but I doubt there will be any places left by then as there is only room for 26 competitors. If you know of anyone still keen please get them to contact me as we may need ghost players and who knows someone may drop out due to unforseen circumstance.
 
Please reply email and I will forward Bank details for deposit. We will be making spanking new table tops in another couple of weeks if anyone wants to volunteer to help.
