Hi Guys,

I've just had news of a good little venue for some 8th Edition testing. Looking at organising a 24-26 ppl two day tournament with 2400pts. Would be great to get some feedback as to when everyone feels would be a good time to run it. So we have late August or middle of Oct.

Cheers,

Phil.

Stay at 2250, I was really forward to NOT having to face lamers that take 600 point lords.

Cut down to 2000, sez I. It's the "international standard" IIRC, so it's probably what the book monkeys balanced things arounf.

Whilst ordering some Mordheim models yesterday by way of Games Workshop's store delivery scheme, I had a bit of a chin-wag with James the manager.
It was in his opinion, having played the the new edition, that the points would most likely grow to around three thousand: apparently the game, at any points level, is quicker to play due to the ease of which things die - about a quarter to a third quicker to play! Thus, logically, from a time perspective, more points will end up being added.
That was his opinion; I'm sure we'll all soon see. Smiley

OTOH, the smaller the game, the less nasty the flying bosses (and Grand Armies allow for ridic spam of special/rare too).

Did you take his advice and immediately rush to the shelves to buy 3000 points worth of models Cheesy?

Thanks for clearing that up guys on whether we should hold it August or October. So with all your helpful opinions we will stay with the October option Wink

Emails and details will be sent out as soon as they are available. 2400pts will still be the order of the day and theres obvious reasons for that. Anyone with concerns with a 600pt lord set up should look at recent 7th Ed results and hearten up. 8th is not a big monster game IMHO, more so a concern that multiple lvl 4's may change the landscape. I'll have my finger on the pulse of the international tournaments and then decide on a pack.

If people want to play a 2000pts or under tourney then my suggestion is Conquest in October down south in CHCH. Run by John Davies and Co and put on by the Cavaliers club.

My own personal bias leads to August. Uni exams are in late October for most people.

@Thom

Yeah I know Exams are about there but August is too close for everyone to get their heads and armies together for a tournament. I'll aim for early October and the entry fee will be about $25. We're just trying to raise enough funds so we can get tabletops for the venue to set it up for future events. Would be great if you and the boys will be able to make it if it was the 2nd or the 9th of OCT?

Since chaos dwarfs no longer exist in the warhammer world, so I don't think GW will come up with an errata for them, unless someone can come up with a FAQ in time, otherwise I doubt that you can use chaos dwarf in any 8th edition tournament.

In fact, I don't think you can use any army books in 8th edition until the Erratas are available.

@ Peter

We already have a name. The tournament is going to be called "Archenemy". All good for those grudges that you're waiting to lodge. It will be a small field of a maximum of 26 players so get in quick and it will be close and personal : ) Does this mean you're making the trip up mate?

You were damn lucky not to lose face in that game Mr Ryan. The pressure's all on you, and you'll choke like an All Black at a World Cup.

I'm up for a bet, but don't drink beer so how about just putting a 'drink' on it? As for your weak as excuse about having a soft army...

ME                   SIMISTER

Orcs and Goblins           Vampires
Orcs and Goblins           Warriors of Chaos
Warriors of Chaos          High Elves
Warriors of Chaos          Lizardmen (next match)

Seems that I've been drawing the short end of the stick at bit, eh Brothers Cheese?
