I'm thinking 3x warpfire throwers and a plageclaw catapult... but that only helps against people who are trying out massive blocks of infantry.  We'll see how it goes against 'classic' 7th ed lists etc.  At least Skaven have tonnes of ranked units which are going to be stubborn most of the time.

"double hydra, double flamers unit, double screaming skull, double steam tank etc"

All extreme examples of hard ETC builds that were frowned upon in 7th ed and I don't see why it won't be the same for 8th. I think spam warmachines and double sick monsters will have to be seriously looked at. Currently it looks like there will not be a comp system for 8th edition tournaments but for Archenemy we are definitely looking at some guidelines. All you cheese monkies know who you are. Pulling out the 'Dragon' word is out dated and lame Wink Although the WS8 STR8 W8 Great Fire Dragon could be pretty nasty unless you can dispell it on a 20.

I predict that Orcs and Goblins and other unfancied races will make a surge through the field.

Orcs and Goblins in particular won't suffer so badly from animosity. An unwanted move forward out of position, or not charging, often resulted in the unit being charged. Getting the charge in doesn't look like it will be such a drama this version, with slugfests not breakthroughs being the way it is looking.

Orcs and Goblins have their own miscast table, which ironically doesn't look as bad as the default one.

Orcs and Goblins have excellent special choices which they were often unable to use. Now they can use them.

Orcs and Goblins have loads of cheap infantry. They won't now break and run if they loose combat by 2.

Orcs and Goblins like humans suffer from psycology more than most. With the downgrading of fear and BSB rerolls these races benefit more than others from 8th.

In a lot of ways yes, it just remains to be seen how badly. On the upside Dwarfs are good again, so I'm happy (and painting furiously to be ready by Guardcon)

say what? id still prefer the rulebook one to the orc and goblin one hands down.

Well, it just means that they'll be a bit more challenging to play than they were already.

There's a couple of good things they've got.

But Bat Swarms still suck. + 30 comp for taking Bat Swarms?
