What you need is for the forum to have one of those "painting challenges", where everyone pledges to paint X number of models before a certain time period, and cop a (virtual) public flogging if they don't.

A deadline is a great way to stay motivated. I normally take forever to paint anything, but I managed my Mordheim band in 19 days. A good trick is to actually put aside some time for painting, make yourself paint at least one hour every day. Or as you've tried, get a friend to come and paint with you. Another good way is to go and paint at a gaming store which allows it... Or even at the club?

What i do is plan a time when i can paint no one around no wife and kids so on, and then make a goal just a small one, like i will paint half of that man 2day something like that. If you layout 10 men in front off you it can deter you, only have one or two models out and just have a small goal.

Also pack all other models away that need to be painted, having 50 models sitting on a shelf waiting to be done can really put you off. I know i have a shelf with 200+ models that need to be painted.

It will keep you motivated you will say to your self i have reached my goal today time to set another and another after that you have an army done in no time.

I used to keep my riders and horses seperate and just blutack them together for games. Boy did I get sick of that! I recently went through and superglued them all to their horses. Best. Decision. Ever.
Do it after you've finished painting them though, makes it easier
