Quick question re the Dark Elf Warband rules please if someone can answer it for me..... (downloaded the PDF from Tabletop Geek dot com)

In the equipment lists it states that the Dark Elf Blade upgrade is 15cg but in the section that describes the special rules of the weapons it states that they are a 20cg upgrade ?!?!?!?! in the upcoming campaign how much will they be, 15 or 20? Also being an elven blade are they subject to the rules of ithilmar weapons or not?

Thanks
Aaron

Always take the more expensive option. So in the case of daggers they're 20g (22g if you're buying a new dagger), swords they're 30g, 2h swords they're 35g. (Initial cost + Black Steel Upgrade)

As for them being Ithilmar, I'd have to say no. The special equipment rules clearly state they're made from "Black Steel".

EDITED TO ADD: Also Dark Elf Blades are classed as Rare (9) weapons. So like anything rare they can't be picked from the start (As I understand things) and need to be "found" in a post game sequence by a hero.

Awesome, thought as much but just wanted it cleared up before writing a list

just checked the rule book quickly and found the following passage re rare weapons Mike:

Quote
The warband’s equipment lists tell you exactly what equipment is available. Note that you may buy rare weapons and armour when starting a warband, as indicated by the list in the warband’s entry, but after playing the first game the only way to get further rare weapons and armour is to roll to see if you can locate them (see the Trading section).

It's from the startiong a warband section but it may be wrong or FAQed as I am only using the downloaded section and havent read any FAQs on the game

Good work Mike. That's the story.

Rare items:

Just to make it so everyone is clear: if it is in your starting list - you may take it when hiring NEW warriors. Once the game is going and you want to get some new stuff, you must find it. If a bloke dies you may hire a new warrior and pick from the starting list. Smiley

All these discussions must be 'Comp' Cheesy
I'll have to catch up then as I have no idea what the rules are.

"Comp!" Snigger. Phil! Thou art a scally-wag. Cheesy

I'd say reading the rules would be good. I did mention it is convoluted.  Tongue

Oh, and whilst on the subject - Phil! No warband has the possibility of taking a dragon, especially one named "Betsy." So, just forget about it.

And Dark Elf Blade is under the "Special Equipment" list. I think I'm more confused...

Some of the newer warbands/unofficial ones have a "Special Equipment" list, so only that warband can use them, so like Lezle said "if it is in your starting list - you may take it when hiring NEW warriors"

A reminder to those who wish to play: the campaign proper starts this weekend.

If you have any terrain that you think would be suitable, please bring it along - the more the merrier.

Betsy is the name of Phil's fearsom Orc leader

When hiring Dregs, I pay 20 per, instead of 20 for all 3, correct?

And can I give them all hand flamers, like I did my Orlock Juvies?

Smashing turn out to-day!

I noticed that there were a few of us with horses. The horse rules and skills from Empire In Flames will be used with the exception of the Whoa-boy Table: this table was written by someone with absolutely no knowledge of horses - complete cobblers; all of it!

The skill RIDE! is not necessary and does not need to be gained to ride a mount.

The Ride skill adds an unnecessary element to the rules.

If it is included, members of your warband may never be able to ride a mount - due to bad luck when making advance rolls and never getting a "skill" upgrade - even though you may have all the gold in Mordheim to buy mounts. Smiley

Let us assume that seeing as there seemingly is no lack of creatures to ride in this fantasy based game, that professional fighters just so happen to know how to ride creatures of war.  Shocked Wink

After all, a knight with-out a nag, technically speaking, is not a knight: and if your leader is a knight and he never has the chance to earn the "Ride" skill... what the Hell is the point of even having him if he can't do what a knight is supposed to do...

Besides, it just looks funnier when my xbows shoot you off the top of your horse. (Says the guy whos warband is not allowed to ride horses, just eat them)

Actually, the existence of Imperial Greatswords would seem to indicate that not all professional warriors do know how to ride... *shrug*

And certainly your pistolier general was terrifying!

Or, Oh Golly! Maybe, just maybe, GW took the time to look and study actual Landsknecht mercenaries of the early sixteenth century and realized that they had a place in the army... strengthening pike-blocks... How a horse can fit in a pike-block I don't know... So therefore they made a ruling, based on historical accuracy... much like I have done with the Ride skill.

If you wish to use the Ride skill, Glenn, go for it. Let not my ruling stop you. Smiley

Andrew! I call thee forth!

Where are the sup-plot rules? Could you post them for all to view?

If some-one else has them, I would be delighted to view the link.

what the heck is 'historically inaccurate' about the notion that people need to learn to ride?

Your basic Youngblood fights no better than a Bretonnian Peasant (and considerably worse than a mere Empire Militiaman), but it's unthinkable that he might start off not knowing how to ride in combat?

Giving away a free skill to every member of some warbands - and being able to saddle up is a significant advantage?

Seems a bit much that the person taking the most advantage of this 'logical' rules change is the one unilaterally implementing.

I think everyone forgot about those rules Lezle and the random happenings rules, so if you don't have them/read them go do it sometime, brings alot more fun/randomness to the game Wink

Glenn,

In all honesty, and I mean not to offend when I declare: I care nothing for your argument.

I say unto you:

The regular Mordheim players have been playing with-out the Ride skill for a good few years now, for the reasons that I have mentioned above; after-all, mounted skills aren't even in the main rule book!

This campaign is about Fun. Mounts aren't often used in this game as they are hard to find, expensive and you have to get the skills first.

Enough is enough! I want to see mounts in this campaign. Go for gold. The Ride skill stays out.

And so I say unto all participants:

If you have a problem, if no one else can help, and if you can find them, maybe you can hire: THE A-TEAM. buy a mount... and ride it.   Cheesy Wink

but a mule is hardly a mount, its more of an ass........ damn rats not getting horsies.

I see Glenns point but I also see Lezles and I think mounts are more fun too. Glenn mount your Beastmaster onto a ColdOne when you can and have a fear causing mount and rider now that your BeastMaster is horribly scarred.

with all these animals rooaming around I wish I had taken a Taal Warband almost ahahahah
