I'm not sure that it's fair to ask for prices to be restored to what they were 5 years ago.

"It almost appears as if the company is deliberately trying to trick customers into paying more"

No Shit that's how company's make money guys, its what happens when the UK pound is so shit and they lose money due to prices of everything else going up.

Guys come on 47p to the NZ dollar just buy from melstrom and it is way cheaper than buying from nz. I gave up buying from NZ long ago and went to buying online your fault is you still walk into the shoe box they call gamesworkshop in st lukes or botney and pay there prices so a staff member can hump your leg and try and be all cool coz they work for GW at $9 an hour come on guys.

Yes the models will cost $1 to make but just think of the production costs for some of these dam nice models what are coming out do you want them to start going backwards are start looking as crap as all the other companys models.

Yes i remember the day when you would pay 15 pounds for two landraiders but that was 20 years ago. I remember when i pay under 70c for petrol.

But if i did what i do for a living 20 years ago i would only get paid 15k a year not 55k money in the world is starting to get so out of hand that in 20 years you will pay 10k for packet of gum.

this plus the rise in gst will more than likley price me out of the hobby,i know this is an exspensive hobby, but it was not that long ago i could buy a boxed set of 30 orks for $40........now its a box of 10 orks (plus nob) for $50. Undecided

i do feel like the wool is being pulled over our eyes a bit.

Ohh regarding the rise in GST that should be countered by the new tax cut you will get. Look on the herald web site and there is a table that shows you how it will work.

Also i dont find this hobby that expensive, and i buy alot of models, but if you look at the average gamer like me and all on this site we cant stop with just one army no we have to get as meny as posible. If you just bought one army and that was it, you would only payout about 1k and thats it, spread that over say a year for how long it take to paint and make an army that is not much.

There is worse hobbys out there, drinking, smoking, modding cars, sports, these all cost alot more than 1k a year. If you go out one weekend in town on the piss you will spend $100 easy and that will be going easy.

It cost me that just to take the wife and kid out to the park on the weekend after gas food and so on.

when i think about it laz your right......... .i mean i take alooooong time to paint, and i enjoy that. so it might take me a year to paint and afford a 2000 point army but sometimes its good not to rush.
having said that, i still think we are getting taken for a ride. with the constant price rise's, especially with some of the older model's going up in price, and they don't come with the extra choices that the newer kits do.....
i'm wondering if we are paying for the cost of GW stores in malls, or yearly licences to the tolkien enterprise for LOTR,(i'm guessing here , ass-u-me-ing).
i mean if GW became online only would we get a fairer cost .
this latest price hike seems to of raised the heckels of a few people ( thats looking at the comments of the people protesting on this petition ), and there is a point where it becomes to much before the general gamer goes , shit this isn't worth it.
and i'm tinkering on the edge Undecided

dont get me started on that bullshit budget... F$%k, the rich will move all their $$$ into companies so they pay less tax, the dole bludgers survive, and my tax cut gets eaten up by my mortgage, kids, bills and living expenses. What a crock. shafted again. Those national pricks are as bad as labour except they take from the middle class to give to the rich instead of giving to those who dont work.

...And dont forget to put the gst increase on top of what GW charge already...

you dont pay it, keep orders under $200 and you sweet, but they put on the box saying its only worth 10 pounds so you dont need to worry, i bought two battleforces in one hit and they did not care.

Free post to the door for anything over 10 pounds what is a likely, i saved $600 NZ buying my crimson fist army from there instead of direct from GW in NZ, Was around 1600 to buy here and i bought for 1000 big savings, even more now with the exchange rate.

You can buy a Space marine battle force for 90NZ with free post, shit there $180 on the shelf.

Smiley it doesnt. im championing those who dont/cant/wont buy from overseas... its mightily unfair that we have the pacific peso here in nz.

what are the price increases like in britain... is that gonna affect the buying power through maelstrom?

... and our dollar is dropping again at the moment....

With the introduction of debit cards across most banks, I really don't see why people would insist on burning money buying directly from GW? I myself pick up a paint pot here and there when I'm desperate to be fair.

Ordering battleforces from Maelstrom directly is such a saving, I cannot think of a more efficient way to start an army. It even beats on buying second hand or TM in most cases, or is better value if you consider you get to assemble to your own preference.

it is only good to buy from maelstrom when the exchange rate remains around 1NZD to 0.45 pound.

the pain kicks in when NZD drops back down to 1 to 0.33 pound.

Its just buy wise and have a few stores in different countrys mainly US and UK to buy from and you can normaly get a better deal that what GW put on the shelf.

Always buy in bulk, post always works out cheaper if in bulk, shop around, plan your army ahead so you know what u need (less haste = Less Waste), buy 2nd hand if you can mainly with metal models.

But the biggest thing what funds my hobby is the hobby its self. Sell Sell Sell those bits don't stock it as it will never get used again, only stock rare items sell the junk its no use and it funds the new army.

I have made over 3k in the past 3 months selling old models i did not need over trademe, 80% of this is warhammer bits. People buy and pay good money for them. Dont sell it cheap but dont rip people off this is NZ everyone one loves other people shit.

These are all key things to go off when trying to save a buck.

Out of all that i have managed not to spend a cent on buy my crimson fist army and a good $800 of that is bling what is not needed. Forgeworld models, conversion packs from GW both of these are not cheap at all.
