That's why I only buy the odd bit here and there. Thank God I have an army (3, in fact). There's no way I'd start a new one from scratch, just too pricey. Pity, I'd have liked to look at a Tau or IG army. No way now.

Good minatures, though, and I love Warhammer. Will continue playing but I haven't spent more than  $150-00 on stuff over the last 2 years and am unlikely to spend much more over the next 2.

Previously I'd spend $50+ a month.

Lets face it, how many of us are over say 20 now and still play? They just need to hook us young and the effect usually lasts for life

Is it not interesting that a huge percentage of people at the club shop at Maelstrom. If people aren't concern'd about the price, why wouldn't they just go to St. Lukes in the first place?

I didn't say they didn't care about the price. People will go where they feel most comfortable buying product. For a lot of people thats Maelstrom. For me, it's usually GW St Lukes, simply based on convenience and the fact me and Credit Cards do not play well together.

But buying from Maelstrom doesn't deprive GW of anything. They still sell thier product. They still make thier margins. And I am realistic enough to know that GW don't make models just for my benifit, priced so I can buy the rediculous amounts I want to buy, they do it to make money. It is, unfortunately, an economic reality. Everything is more expensive than 10-15 years ago, and keeps getting more expensive by the day. I don't know why large chunks of the gaming community seem to insist on keeping thier heads in the clouds and think we should be immune from that harsh reality.

Agreed, price increases are an economic reality.

However, is it just me or does GW sem to increase their prices a lot and at 10-15% every time? I can't seem to find other companies that do this.

I may be wrong as I don't buy, say, CDs every month, but in the 8 years I've played 40K prices have shot up considerably.

On another note $63 for a box of 10 SWs is pretty good, lots of bitz, etc. $63 for 5 Death Company? Sorry, but that's a ripoff...and I don't even play BA.

My math is pretty poor but isn't that an effective doubling of price for roughly the same amount of stuff (if you see what I mean, ie shouldn't there be 10 DC in a box for $63)? After a year?

Coupled to this is the drive for larger games (points wise). Check out WHFB new rumours. More models needed now at $40 for 10 ordinary dudes (more or less). Even if not true, IG get 10 troopers in a box (used to be, what, 20?) for the same (or more expensive) than 2 years ago. So, you pay twice as much for half as much for some units.

GW are definitely upping the ante.

You're right, some members of the gaming community have their heads in the clouds. You've just got the wrong members.  

Is the gaming community allowed to question price increases or do we just blindly trust GW (or anyone else, for that matter) as to reasons? I love Warhammer but since it is my money I feel that I have a right to question.

I don't have my head buried in the sand. I know the prices go up a fair bit, and the guard example is entirely valid. I also know, that unless I plan on chucking it all in and never buying another GW model again, there is no point giving myself an ulcer over something I have zero control over. Dunno, maybe i'm just getting all zen in my old age.

Fair enough. I find I get grumpier the older I get (the closer I get to 40 the less time I have for bull$%#t)  

However, the point is that some people will get irritated and move to another game system. Others won't bother starting Warhammer as other hobbies are cheaper/less time consuming.

I will also continue with Warhammer but not to the extent I used to.

The fact remains GW do seem to be pulling a fast one in some ways.

I also think that large chunks of the gaming community are getting annoyed.

Sooner or later people will stop buying. If that is a good for the hobby, I'm very much mistaken.

I do not mind paying for my hobby but at times I do feel ripped off (and I'm mild-mannered). I'd assume other people feel even more strongly about this.

eg. the old metal chaos knights boxed set was $95, the new plastic one is now $45
2 metal chaos hounds were $25, now 10 plastic one for $40.

the new boar boys are $45 for 5, when they were $25 each before.
the awesome new plastic trolls boxed set is $65 for 3 and were $33 each.

same apply to 40k.

i use vallejo paints mainly.... will be all i buy now. $5.50 is good value. 27 bux for a 3 paintbrush set too. so thats covered.

... wont be long before we play in a torney using gw rules with non gw figs...
