Good, that'll get him some excercise on his zimmer Wink

Good luck to Two of the gang who are competing at Nicon this weekend. Nick is defending his title and hopefully he brings home the goods.

Week 5 Results,

Phil    17  v   Scott  3
Luke  13  v   Bill      7
Chris  14  v   Jeff     6
Paul   12  v   Thom  8
Russ   10  v   Daryl   10
Nik          v   Simon          postponed

Gouda  v  Simon...   Veto that sic army Tongue

So the Final weeks' competition saw some shake ups at the closely fought top of the table. That Cheesy Phil guy managed to scrape back from a losing situation to rout some determined Orcs & Goblin. The Battle between Tomb Kings and Vamps saw a last round decider for 2nd and 3rd places. With one Game to finish off the competition Nick's wood elves will need a convincing victory over empire to catapult him into a podium position.

NICON was good fun, I was doing well right up until round 6 then I ended up with only 4 points in the next 2 games combined (in typical Nick fashion). Another city guard-er did pretty well though Smiley

Simon, we can play at my place tomorrow if you want? Hmm, needing a 15 point win to steal 3rd... what's the count back if I tie Bill in points?

NiCon results:

1st - Reid Pittams - Orcs and Goblins
2nd - Paul Davidson(?) - Skaven
3rd - Daryl Painter - Vampires.

Philfy is now OFFICIALLY Reids bitch. Not content with bending Phil over the table with no lube, he then kicked him in the nads by getting him to collect his prize for him  Grin

Batrep final game Bretonnains vs Orc & Gob.

Scotts army was a hard hitting mass of Boyz with a scary big unit of Trolls led by BsB on Boar. The Lvl 4 with the amulet o protectyness was going to be dominating magic. 4DD total in my army was going to have huge amounts of trouble stopping Foot o Gork with 8PD and bound to contend with.

1st Turn    The Lil Night Goblin Shaman charges forward and unleashes the 'Bagpipes o Doom'. The whole Bretonnian line are knees 'a' shaking. This could have been devastating and game over. As it was the big unit of KotR's legs it off the board (fails to rally) with the Damsel and a Dispell scroll. This clips the Trebuchet and they flee of the table as well. The Bret Lord was no where near for his leadership as he was trying to dodge the 4 Bolt throwers trying to target him on the opposite hill.

2nd Turn    Goblin wolf riders and NG Fanatic delivery systems move forward to block the Bretonnian advance. Yeoman intercepts on the left flank and some cautious pegs along with the Errant bus intercepts on the right flank followed by the lord skirting the forest to avoid stray Gob bolters. The lone Gob Chariot was too ambitious and the Pegs o Doom smash into that little stray only to pursue straight into the path of a oncoming Giant. Oh Bugger.
All the while the Reaper Gob bolters thins both Errant buses of some much needed personnel.

3rd Turn    Bret buses mows down all the stray NG apart from one block of Archers to the left flank. Not a very clever move on my part as this gives Scott all the counter charges he needs. The Giant mows down the pegs with an impressive 10 Str6 jump up and down wounds. The big brute roars and over runs in a mad rush of combat fury, right in front of Bret Lord 'Boris'. Boris charges in with careless abandon and his trusty skewer downs the brute in one. The ensuing panic and flank charges from that one single combat see's the Bret lord round up about 2 units of Orc's, The big Block of Trolls and BsB, Unit of Night Gobs, 3 Bolt throwers and a some Chicken chips.

Turns 4, 5 & 6

Lvl 4 Orc Shaman sit's in the forest casting Foot o Gork 5 out o the 6 rounds of magic, Causing 2 fatalities in total. The Bret Buses mop up for a 17 -3 surprise victory.

Thanks Nick. Sorry, I didn't stick around to find out the full list. Should be out in a couple of days hopefully.

Rolling up Gaze of Nagash for both vampires gave me the machine gun fire to counter your archery and smite your dryads to a managable size. Of course the double 6 Stand and Shoot from the Banshee was also a thing of beauty to behold. Grin

Highlights for me include:
1 - Me cleverly keeping my Black Knights in the open long enough to use up Luke's non-misfire rolls on his catapault.
2 - Lord Firemagnet lord munching through both of his combat characters and the vast majority of his tomb guard.
3 - My bats keeping two of Luke's units dancing around taking pot shots instead of killing something more near and dear to me 'eart
4 - Curse of Years getting 5 tomb guard on the first turn
5 - My zombies killing a tomb guard.

Lowlights had to include:
1 - Lord Firemagnet being stupid turn 1.
2 - 4 dead blood knights to impact hits... 4!
3 - None of my black knights being clever enough to side-step Luke's double-tapping catapault-o-doom
4 - Not getting a speed bump up to protect my zombies in the lord combat in turn 6 - costing me about 700 points (lord, lord kill, zombies, table quarter, half bats) and an 11-9 victory.

My choppy units did their part with gusto, my magic was pretty seldom, and my shambling hordes shambled as only they can do.

Lord Firemagnet and his trusty steed Uncle Gribbly showed their resilience, and overall I think I am getting better.

First podium for me - hopefully I can carry some momentum into TS.

my highlights against the Master Gouda

1. first turn, 2 perfect cannon shots took out a cold one chariot and a repeater bolt thrower.
2. cannons later took out his manitcore and the other cold one chariot.
3. my inner circle knights held in close combat for 7 combat rounds with a hydra in the front and cold one knights in the flank.

my lowlights.

1. steam tank failed to charge his cold one knights in the flank by roughly 0.5 cm.
2. steam tank destroyed by assassin with throwing star + manbane! (3 shots str 7... ouch!)
3. knightly orders failed terror test on turn 1, later failed to rally and off the board.

RESULTS

1st Place--------------------  Phil Wu -----Bretonnians
2nd Place ------------------  Luke B  -----Tomb Kings
3rd place--------------------  Bill Shera --- Vampire Counts

40K Potential -------------- Jeff King---- Ogre Kingdoms.

The competition this year was really well received with 14 competitors. The 5 weeks of competition was played in good spirit and feedback was very good from all the players. With such positive response, I'm going to run this league again next year and tie up all the Fantasy players for another 5 weeks again. If you are interested in playing and snatching the silverware then keep your calendars free same time same bat channel next year. Hopefully with less Event conflicts we can round up a much larger number of competitors.

Great to see Bill 'Gribbly' Shera get his first podium and suddenly realise that VC are competitive Tongue Luke for bringing out a tried and true hard hitting Tomb King's list. The new guys that have joined the club and of course Jeff who has just started WFB. Hope you guys enjoyed it as much as I did and a hint that if you want the guy you're playing to throw his game buy him a pack o chicken chips  Grin
