another fantasy question

when 2 characters are in a challenge, and subsequently a chariot charges one of the character's flank.
I know the the mount and the crews cannot fight the character, but impact hits come before combat.
the question is:
does he suffer impact hits??

Heres my 2 cents.
Understanding is that a single character by himself has charged a unit (or vice versa) and is engaged in a challenge. In the 1st round of combat if a chariot has also charged in then impact hits would be resolved on the enemy character. In subsequent rounds of combat I wouldn't think impact hits can be resolved as he is removed and is fighting in a challenge.

I reckon he should suck down the impact hits. Serves him right for getting that position in the first place

Second FAQ,
http://www.games-workshop.com/MEDIA_CustomProductCatalog/m2220025_Warhammer_FAQ_part2_Feb_2009
Q. If a character (alone, or in a unit of less than 5 rank and file models) is engaged in an ongoing challenge (originating from a combat which began in a prior turn) and is charged by and enemy chariot, can he suffer impact hits from the chariot? Or are they ignored by the character?
A. ... [Impact hits] will affect the character if he is the only model left when the chariot charges in.
