hey there guys.... no pics yet..... but anyhoo, i have converted up a chaplain to hang with my generic SM's

he has a chaos possessed head, dark angels body-a running one with gay robe, black templars right arm holding a BT axe handle(chains and crap on fist) and i mounted a mini skull with angel wings sticking out on top. his left arm is the SM commander powerfist with the big eagle on it and the big eagle shoulder pad as well. his left shoulder pad has pimples studded on it.

im gonna sit down tonite and do his boney bits... i like my chaps to be bone rather than white.... and i am painting his robe grey as thats the main chapter colour. his pimpley shoulder pad will be red(or maybe his eagle one as thats the other colour of my boring marines)

Has someone got a quick and sleazey way of highlighting his black armour instead of painting grey lines on the edges? i really want him a deep black but dont have a clue how to make it 'pop!'

normally when im busting through a squad of 20 chaos marines(black brass and red i just drybrush mithrill silver on their black armour to get em on table quicker..... im over drybrushing.)

cheers fellas!
Damian.

I don't use true black that much as a color. I think that it creates a void on a miniature, for my chaplain I used a really dark grey as my start position. However where I do use true black, I edge highlight, no blending and it's not really quick. First with a watered Chardon Granite, then a 2:1 of Granite / Shadow grey. Then a 1:1, then a pure shadow. You can go all the way up to white if you want... If you're doing a lot with these color it might pay to try a wet palette. Makes it easier. PHOTOS!

you could mix your own really dark grey.....or light black as i called it. 8 parts black to two parts white then wash it in layers of black ink(makes it shiny) or badab black (makes it not shiny) anyhoo let it settle in your cracks (OOOooer) but you will prob still have to highlight Roll Eyes
