Following on from teh elves ive picked up another army, this time WOC
Week 1- week 2
Prupose: First and foremost the purpose of this thread is to motivate myself and possibly others to paint, but mainly to keep me on track.
The idea is that by giving myself fortnightly timeframes i will force myself to finish stuff in order not to lose E-Face
Lets see how well I can keep this up.

Pre strip
This army was brought from trade me for a song , as was added to viva another great deal thanks too Jon.
I de-iced to start with the marauder horseman first, mostly because only half them were painted.

Strip
I have opted again to use the Simple green method, with some alterations for metals.
Using a mixture of about 30% simple green to 70% water.

Scrape

Green stuff
As most of the arms were missing i needed to salvage arms from normal marauders on foot, for me this is the hardest part as I’m not very y good with green stuff. On close inspection you can easily see the horrible job of joining and or extra green stuff that I  missed when trying to clean it up.

Base
I used a mixture of Gamesworkshop stuff, and shells we have in my garden.

Air brush
Useing the air bursh i put 1 light coat of paint on. I use an inferior cheap paint so vanish will need to be applied alter in order to stop it from easily chipping off.

Finished
I am about 70% pleased with how these came out, the green stuffing was the biggest let down, and i couldn’t decided on what flesh method to use so it’s got a lot of mistakes on close inspection.

Total agreement. You've got this dark / gritty thing going on which look bloody awesome for Chaos. Nice stuff Smiley

Week 3

I am now week 3 of the restoration project,  and things are flying along this week gone i have managed to finish off a number of models. And have included photos of them below.
Before striping

This shows the models after being soaked in Green stuff for a week

These models were sprayed black and the solvent has etched the paint into the model. Some additional cleaning was needed, i use a gel paint striper on the metal parts of the model, alot of care had to be taken to remove it quickly as it will severally damage the plastic and etch away the detail if left on for more then a few seconds, this softens up the paint and allows me to scrape it off with a stuff brush and the demist tool.

I cleaned up the models as best i could green stuffing on a parts. A much better fit then the horsemen.

I have included this photo in this weeks posting to show you the level of stripping required. Some of the models have been over painted with several layers and will take along time to correct.

Attached are some other model i also started this week.

Finished knights.

What’s finished todate, this is where im up to so far only after 3 weeks, some smaller details need to be finished off yet, and i actually started the dragon in week one.

Well the armies finished , what now.
Pros
This armies done
Extremely happy about the 3.5 weeks it took to refurbish this army
Playable

Cons.
Not so happy about the hack job ive done with the greenstuff.
Army is painted to “table top standard”  If i was working with new orsm looking models id spend more time on detail and shades. / layers

That's amazingly impressive progress, well done! Thanks also for posting such a great tutorial/step by step.
I'm intrigued by your approach to stripping models. I've stripped many 10's of models in the last year or two, always using pure simple green. I do them in batches, reusing the simple green as much as I can until it no longer seems to have enough effect. It works equally well on metal as plastic, and I haven't had too much of a problem with multiple layers of paint. When I did I found that drying the models off and giving them a good scrubbing with an old toothbrush before putting them back in the green worked fine. Often using a pin to scrape out the cracks got the last of it. Do you really feel that paint stripper gel and lots of scraping are necessary?

It really speeds up the removal of old paint on metals.
its very hard stuff so i have to use is verylightly and only quickly. but in a few secs it removes allmost everything, i wash them in simple green first as that removes the bulk, but i still some times use the paint stripper on older paints or stuff thats got alot of layers.
