hey guys.

i want to run grumpy daemon again. this time, I'm thinking if there is enough interest I'd quite like to open it up to everyone and see how many would like to play-otherwise I'm quite happy to make it an invitational again... i had fun with last years one...... i plan to have even more with this one. i was gutted i couldn't run equinox 40k as the winds of chaos blew fickle and prevented me from doing it.

so, i need a venue and a date. well, oh mighty commitee.... do i have a window any time near the end of the year to use the freemans bay hall and terrain? perhaps piggyback another event? then i can go hit James up at gw to get lots of prize support that everyone seems to like... Grin (and give Lee free entry too so i can score sum of those awesome green army bags of his?  Tongue )

*****initial thoughts on grumpy d2.******

doubles format-1500? 1750? pts per each player
-2 games on Saturday/2 games on Sunday.
-use allies matrix from apocalypse book to find compatible armies.
                     -%40 general points, %40 sports, %20 painting.
-standard force organization chart. (no comp restrictions- your peers will judge u in sports
combining  your  playing style, army selection.- u and your partner take an arse army and play like a
b@#$%d  with your 'cool' army that no one likes u will get burnt.)  Wink
-NO NUDE MODELS- painted only u slack buggers. Angry
-Missions are taken from new battles book
                     #1 Black Crusade
                     #2 Slave Raid
                     #3 Reconnaissance In Force
                     #4 Clash Of Heroes.
*Random attacker/Defender dice roll off for each one*
(And maybe an arena of death again this year boys?)
I promise not to screw with the missions too much.... maybe. Smiley

Main prizes and trophies(golden nurglings!) for 1st overall, 2nd overall, 3rd overall, best sporty, best
                     painted.

What say u all? i appreciate any (constructive!) comments bout this.  I'm keen to try to get the Welly crew up for this if i am able to along with u hamdog westies and everyone else north of the bridge ans south of the bombays if the committee gives me a go ahead. Otherwise it might just be an invitational again. be nice to get more 40k in aucks  again.

Damian.

COME TO CHAOSSSSSSSS! (no, go on, u know u want to. really...)

How about at GuardCon in September, like you did last year? If you did want to run it then, it would need to be just an invitational.. .

Indeed, we can't run any events that compete with 40k fields of blood Wellington.

Is that too much or are we just bordering on a tournament of Apocalypse battles?

im jigging the format at the moment.... likely to be 1250pts per player so we can have 6 games over the weekend.... thats 2500pts per side and more than enough using standard org chart... and wont be using the allies matrix from apocalypse so u can hook up with a mate.... imagine a nid and ork horde screaming across the battlefield vs a guard gunline backed up by implacable necrons.... etc....

im gonna mix up two of my home grown missions along with the 4 from the battles book....

sorting out invites at the moment.... 20 players=10 teams of two=5 tables.... nice and small and shud be very competitive..

looking at getting some gale force 9 stuff to give out as part of entry fee too..... maybe their multi template or turn counters or something like that. they have cool counters for most things as well.

20 players is almost double last year guys, it's starting to look less like a fun side event and more like a reason not to travel to Wellington. Not sure I'm totally happy with that, given the agreement we have with Pete Dunn.

I cant speak for everyone else but there is no way i'd go to wellington to play 40k even if this event wasn't run, i'm sure it's the same for some of the other guys too.
i missed out last year cause i was too slow and ended up going along to watch for a while anyway.

If it's later in the year and I can get a partner for my marines I'd be pretty keen.

Ah, September. Great!

Could we have it later in September (gotta love those holidays)?

guess what nik.....so what?

and i have invited two welly boys to fill up the last two spots. one of which i have known for years and id really like the other to play if he is able to... if they dont/cant/want to attend i can get two more cityguard players to play. easy done. this aint encroaching or stepping on petes toes at all. not a gt, not even qualifying for rankings hq. whats your problem? afraid we will have more fun(AGAIN) than the fantasy side of things?  this is MY contribution to the cityguard 40k players. no one elses. im simply making use of the cityguards hirage of OUR hall for the whole weekend to get a few mates to play 40k with me.... hell, we will set our 5 measley tables up in a row on the stage away from any fantasy players we may offend while we are having FUN and beating each others brains out in a safe, comp free, friendly environment with the blessing of the majority of the cityguard members.
