Excellent event Nick - thank-you for patiently taking the time to run it and deal with "the issues". Very nice work.
Army-wise for me:
If dropping the Flamers meant a better comp score I would retrospectivel
y DEFINITELY have dropped them in favour of taking a Herald for one of the blocks. They are just so incredibly ass without a Herald. The Daemon Prince was waaay worse then I thought he was... and I already thought he was pretty useless. Again, putting just half his points into a single Herald makes a unit better and means I would have lost less points in each game (650 points when I lost the Prince, including the bonus points he's giving up). Also would have given me 200pts to throw into another unit (probably whichever unit was going to get the Herald).
I lost HUGE numbers of troops by not having a BSB. So many ridiculous break checks where entire units would get vapourised because of a poor roll. Good less right there and happy to maintain that a Daemon army sans BSB is softer than one with.
Game-wise:
A loss to Phil Wu-Shu and his ninja Elves. Clever build for this tournament, smart player. 12-8 to the eventual winner of the tournament.
A loss against fecking Dirty Vod dammit! The over-riding reason for me to actually run the damn event next year is to make for sure I can't draw him (by virtue of not playing). I had the worst luck I think I've ever encountered in a game. Tony was terribly nice about the whole miserable situation... I rolled over 19-1, cementing my new status as Tony's guaranteed trampoline.
A win against Bill Shera. Practically drooling when I drew this army, Daemon love eating Vampire Counts. Bill was able to present a strong contiguous front which stopped me getting vital flank charges in. Eventually I cleaned up enough to roll into his General's block with Daemon Prince and (in sheer desperation) Screamers in the flank. Ground them down and nabbed the Vampire General in the last turn. 17-3 win for the bad guys (me, in this case).
A draw against Tom Dunn's Dark Elves. Holy crap this was an excellent game. I rolled some silly good dice. Tom's army was a tough one and I think some good luck was the deciding factor here.
A loss against Mark Lowe's Chaos Dwarfs. Every turn was a new surprise as I'd never played against Evil Stunties before. The biggest swing was Mark forgetting his magic phase, me reminding him, a successful cast of a FIREBALL, and a dead Daemon Prince once the smoke had cleared. Nice. Pulled some points back taking out the Taurus, artillery and Centaurs but Mark's blocks and Blunderbusses were never touched. 12-8 loss.
Of all the people I could draw in the last round... Phil Comins. Just proves that Nick really is a sick twisted bastard with an awful sense of humour. We had a fantastic game though. Dirty stinking luck killed off Phil's Daemon Prince after 5 Screamers inflicted 4 wounds and he failed all his saves. My Steeds wiffed completely against his and were smashed. His BSB was an unstoppable force. End game his Daemonettes were tackled by Beasts, Nurglings and my Prince and blasted off the pitch. 13-7 win. 2-0 to me Philfy

Awesome weekend, totally stoked to get Best Sports (and very flattered!).
Looking forward to Equinox, trying desperately move a work engagement!!!!!
