Absolutely rapt at how things have gone for me so far. I'll be delighted if they go half as well tomorrow.

Still trying to noodle out wtf I'm supposed to do against Dave Ji's blob.

1st - Dave Stent with Demons
2nd - Pete Dunn with Skaven
3rd - Antony Kitson with Bretts
4th - Jack Dunn with Dark Elves
5th - Luke Brimblecombe with Dark Elves

Well done you lot. I got 14th after a great second day and courtesy of Richard's horrible dice. It's amazing to seeing so many consistent ones thrown (except for fear tests).

Thanks Phil for running the awesome event. Well done and I look forward to next year!

Hey Guys,

What a fantastic tense finish to the end. We had no idea who was going to take out the Podium finishes (except for one position Smiley) until the dust had cleared from the last round of the top tables. Thanks for all the out of towners and the mass of local gamers who supported the Tournament and made it so successful. I have to also thank the great team of support staff and the fill in 40K TO's for making it such a smooth event for you and me. I will post all the results once I manage to regain some rest and sanity. I look forward to putting this event back on the same time and place next year. Hope you guys enjoyed it.

Cheers,

Phil.

Thanks for a great event Phil, loved every minute. I think the comp system worked quite well, and an ETC style touney makes for some pleasant variety during the year.

Although I don't want to see another Daemon army for at least a couple of weeks.

It was you using the force in game 6 wasn't it. Nothing to do with my dice that I could roll an armour or ward save. Next Equinox I say no malicious spectators Wink

The weekend was awesome, well done Phil and the TO's for all the events. With out you to organise the actual gaming, the weekend wouldn't have happened. Thanks for running things.

Phil, have you booked the hall for next year, or do you want me to do it this week?

Well done Phil. Awesome job!

Nic's brother was great, as was Karen and the kitchen staff!

Had a great time, got my best ever result at a tourny, 3 wins, a draw and 2 losses.

I voted for the Ghost for best sportsmanship by the way Smiley

Thanks to all my opponents for some wonderful games. I experienced a series of surreal and hilarious moments which consistently featured a combination of the Banner of Hellfire and my opponents' inability to dispel it on two (or three) dice. Triple ones TWICE from Pete was just appalling (and can't have helped his headache).

Daryl played like a wimp (and I must admit a well-coached and intelligent general) by refusing to engage where possible. It was only a timely Bolt of Change (and the subsequent evaporation of the Black Coach) that swung the game to a narrow win to me 11-9.

Derick can vouch for the effectiveness of the Balesword as it ate his Skink Priest on the Engine and then dealt 16 wounds to the Kroxigor. The Temple Guard and Slann took hideous amounts of punishment but the frog was eventually popped by the GUO and his death stick as I dodged Cleansing Flares with my fingers crossed all the way. A huge bout of dice fail on the right flank saw the Flesh Hounds eat the Sallies, a big unit of Saurus with Skink Chief, and a small unit of ranked Skinks - the best performance from the Fleshies in the tournament by far. The Cold One Cav ate through 29 Horrors leaving just the very lucky unit standard bearer alive for a 17-3 win.

Skellie took the massive turnaround in our game like champion - he had me on the ropes until a failed dispel saw 4 Blood Knights explode (Banner of Hellfire - #### yeah!). He followed this up with a failed Stupidity check on his General, lining up the Flesh Hounds in the flank and GUO in the front for some carnage (and the demise of his General). 20-0 - sorry mate.

Half-time and it was a close run thing between myself, Pete and the star of Day One - "Wild" Bill Shera!

Lined up for Bill in Round Four and had the unfortunate task of heralding (pun not intended) the beginning of the end of his rise to fame, power and glory. Mr Shera learnt just how tough the silly regenning Nurgle block is (one Plaguebearer lost in return for the Blood Knights, BSB, Zombies, Skeletons, and another Vamp hero). Bill played VERY well with some clever (and high rolling) Zombie raising stopping the GUO from doing... pretty much anything really, right up to a failed strength test on the Dragon from Pit of Slime. With the Vamp general pinned the GUO waded in, Miasma'd himself, and slapped the poor sod silly with the Balesword. Lots of crumbling and some fortunate rolling left Bill with 4 Black Knights (oddly pre-emptive of his game against Antony). 17-3 win.

This was the first tournament I've played in where I've been able to accurately predict all of my Day Two opponents so up stepped the very canny Pete Dunn. I spent the game wading through trash, dodging Warp Lightning and Crack's Call, running away from the Doomwheel and laughing at Pete's shocking dice. I made some poor decisions in this game - the pressure applied by being down by 150pts on comp straight away, plus being outdeployed and having Pete's army disengage from combat, plus sucking down the magic proving to be quite a combination! Well-played by Pete, frustrating for me but still highly entertaining. 13-7 LOSS :'(

The planets aligned and I drew Mr Kitson for the last round. Not only was a podium and possible 1st place riding on this (we both had a shot at numero uno as Pete had drawn Rion "funtimes get ready for a probable draw" Roben's Nurgle wall of blech) but after a silly bet at the start of the game I was playing for the army I might have to use at Tin Soldier. Basically if I lost Kitson would choose my army for Tin Soldier 3 (so, Dogs of War then?...) and if I won I'd be choosing his army for Fields of Blood. That's army mind you... not army LIST. So a hell of a lot riding on this game. Fortunately for me Tony decided he'd sit in on this game and disrupt Ant's rolling with bad Daemon vibes. This led to a number of amusing incidents including:

- the Flaming death Brett Lord and Grail Bus frontally charging the Plaguebearers (good play by Ant), the Brett Lord failing to kill the Herald and being smushed for his troubles
- the Damsel in the Grail Knights, just prior to the above combat, deciding that, while the GUO was already diverted by Peg Knights she should also have a go at slowing him down with Mistress of the Marsh. On two dice. Miscast. Free spell for the Daemons. Umm... I think I'll use the BANNER OF HELLFIRE!!! Shwoom... Peasants fried, Knights fried, 2 wounds off the Brett General (he was lucky to survive at all!), one wound off the Hippogryph
- the USELESS Daemonettes and Herald being beaten by ranked Men-at-Arms. Suck rolling all the way. Didn't realise I could Siren Song in some Knights while already in combat and ended up losing the Fleshies, Furies and Daemonettes with no answers.

End result was a 16-4 win which theoretically put me in the lead by I'm not sure how much (2 points?). Poor Old Man Kitson couldn't make a Ward Save to... save himself. Massive kudos to him though for taking the Bretts and placing where he did - well-played! A thread will be opened a some point discussing what army he should be lumped with for Fields of Blood. Strong contenders at this point are Orcs and Goblins or Ogres.

I had a blast and thought the event was well-run by first time TO Phil - good show! Just the one misdraw (although I wouldn't have minded playing Barby in Round Five Wink) and a big wait for the painting judging but otherwise good times.

Very much looking forward to Tin Soldier 3 in June - probably back to the Vampires but after some talk with Ant, and despite the fact that at first I was just joking around, Dogs of War might be a possibility. Apparently after using Daemons you are supposed to do your penance and use something soft. Crazy I know but I'll have some practice games and see what happens.

So yeah... probably back to Vampires Grin

Cheers,
Dodgy/Lonely/Lucky/Dirty Dave
