I sympathise. I reformatted all the lists for FoB last year, negotiated with 8 comp judges, negotiated with (some) grumpy players... and then still had to run the damn tournament Smiley

It's going to be a great weekend of fun and games! Cheesy

I seem to be unable to upload the lists to my website from work, so it will have to wait until I get home later on

p.s All future TOs - it's a great idea to furnish players with a template Smiley You will see that I quite quickly ran out of steam in regards to formatting all lists identically, but at least they are all in one place and one file format....

Grumble and hmph. That is all.

Thought I would have far and away the nastiest list there but I guess not. Nice to see the old "Gateway list of Awesome Warhammer Skill at Rolling Dice/Your Opponent Miscasting" is still alive and popular.

Some very interesting lists to be sure...

Worth noting I think that over 3/4 of the lists have a spellcasting Lord (or equivalent), a higher proportion than I have noticed before.  This even with a 9PD a turn cap.

GUO obviously seen as a popular option - Kippers and 'Thirsters obviously not!

Aside from the WoC lists there seems a fair bit of variation which is good to see.

True. We should all just play demons I guess... lots of skill needed there.  Grin

lets be fair Demons are petty easy to play, out of all the armies i own / play they take the LEAST amount of skill and is easily the hardest army i have.
That dosent mean they require SOME skill to use as all ITP armies require some ability to think ahead.

As I said above really...

"We" hear lots of "daemons are easy" - and yet so few people in Godzone apparently  playing them...  preferring instead to remind us all just how easy they are to win with, how "good" ITP is, etc etc it would seem.

Granted they are certainly easy to hit with a comp-hammer...  but surely if they are as "good" as people are trying to make out they'd be dominating even with a compstick?

Dwarves now, they're the REAL broken army...  how many half decent players get whitewashed when fielding Dwarves eh?

I think you are looking at the picture from to a guarded and possibly bias position, thou you do raise some points.
Are daemons easy to play?
Having a 5+ward save across the board makes them very hearty, and there are those times where you just happen to save everything, of course there are those times that you save nothing as well, but the potential to save everything, out weights the potential to save nothing.
Additionally have the following points in their favour, Unbreakable, Under coasted fear, excellent synergy with heralds , something unseen in other books.
Why don’t more people play them if they are so easy to play?
I feel that this is related to something you raised, COMP. In a comp based system daemons are heavily hit for being so good, even in EQ they are hit pretty hard and yet still topped out number 1.  This will likely only put off some players, the truth is most people play with the army they own rather than go out and by “the best army” on top of this DOC play can be pretty boring.

Daemons are a powerful army and Heralds buffs are just silly.
But for me and others I know its that fact that when you play against daemons
odds are you have to play for a draw and if not you can squeeze and 11 - 9.
And with the Equinox comp system its encourages you to do so which is also helped
by the amount of Nurgle walls in this tournament.
And lets face it if someones spends the whole game avoiding you playing for a draw
it isnt fun for either player.

Excellent idea and along the lines of something I was going to post on in another thread.

Most people have access to Microsoft office to use Excel for their lists but ensure it is saved in an earlier format than the current version or if they don't have Microsoft Office they can always use Open Office or Google Docs both available on the interweb thingy.

This format thing is a real pain.
I would like to suggest that the tourny pack come with a list tool designed for data entry. It could be a little java applet or something to format the data into a comma delimited text file, which is return to the TO.
The TO or judges can open the file is whatever flavour of spreadsheet he likes.

I think the Nurgle wall (Rion's list as it were) is a poor choice for Equinox. Unless your opponent is a complete idiot they will have realised how nuts the regenning Plaguebearers are and will play either for avoidance or, if they have massed flaming goodness, to take out one block.

If you play on average a tier 6 list you are giving up a stack of points. Conservative play by most opponents will result in you consistently losing 12-8 off the back of the comp differential.

You are a shining example Smiley I hadn't realised earlier that the lists would be released, so I didn't raise it as a problem. Had I thought about it I would have suggested a template just like the one you use.

Certainly having a template makes it very easy for things such as panel comp. In this case I would have offered mine but Phil was after word format and mine is excel.

Happy to provide it for TS3 etc
