Well it's not a flood but a trickle. I do hope everyone knows that there is a penalty for late lists

Yup you do. Plus since my email to all the 40k guys was cut short because of a comp and user malfunction you'll get an extra day to submit your lists.

Numbers are looking great for what we aimed for just 3 more seats left for the tournament to sellout. I would rather we have those left for demo games but if you know anyone still wanting to come they still can.

i cant wait to start comping those 40k lists.... already had a look at andy duncans space wolf list..... reasonably inoffensive... . unlike him the boring old git! see u guys on sunday. i got a grudge match vs LEE and his daemon list he is trying out......

im gonna use my boring generic snow marines that i painted up for battlecry and never got a chance to use....

I worked out a good way to do the rankings.
Iwanted to put half the lists in the top 3 spots, and the other half of the list in the bottom
so I rolled 3 D6 for each army... very scientific.
any duplicates had to roll off
what's fairer than that?

I bet not many others put what I put in the lower ranks, or in the higher ranks

I certainly couldn't rank the lists like I would in a normal event. Really felt the army specific and general restrictions needed to be considered quite strongly.

- DE's got nerfed, so they sadly will be forced to take a combat heavy army, i.e. Black Dragon or Hydra+Cauldron, ASF black guard, etc. Still hard as nails. Nothing changed there for me.

- Vamps. Got even harder, IMO. Sure the magic and a couple of toys gets nerfed, but I expect to see a lot of a certain sort of list that will do very well in this tournament. VC are one of my favs to win the event.

-Skaven. So you can't take all the toys in the same list... It's still going to be very strong. No change. Another fav to take the title.

- High Elves. No Stardragon options available for a really good build. In a hardcaps environment I don't see the archmage delivering as much. Still good, but not great.

- LM. Magic cap stops the machine gun slann, but twin stegs is still going to be fun to deal with... not. No change

- Demons get some sensible rules that I think are in line with most tournament's veto policies. If anything, demons have more freedom without the veto option. No change.


When considering how armies are usually capped with 'normal' comp I don't think the hardcaps have really changed the order of the top tier armies. Yes for the middle tiers, but the top armies are still 'that' good... IMO

I'll leave my evidential responses until tomorrow - wouldn't want to accidentally say something that might influence someone's choices about rankings before they are submitted.

Suffice to say Josh I agree with some of what you've said and seriously think you are kidding yourself with some of the other stuff. The clever army and generic restrictions combined with the overall fact that while you are operating within the caps you can go right to the absolute limit should theoretically result in a series of incredibly hard armies. I think the top tiers are definitely changed as a result - some lists just aren't as competitive as others (the magic caps proving especially significant).

My list is about efficiency, but there are gonna be all sorts of tough matchups for it.  I'm not expecting to win 6 games, and in practice it has been 2 wins, a draw and a loss.

Hey Guys,

Heaps of lists and multiples there of flooded my email last night. Thanks to all that were on time and for those of you who are still a little late not to worry. I'm fairly busy today and tonight so may not check them for a day or two. For the ones who like music the Ambassador is hosting a few live bands tonight, it's located on 1218-1220 Great North Road, Pt Chevalier, Auckland. A friends bands playing and it's good, so anyone up for some entertainment you know where to go.
