-Release date is January 16th (apparently pushed back due to some manner of printing snafu)

-A new Tyranid Batallion box is listed on retailer schedules for December 5th oddly enough. Contents are currently unknown.

-Carnifex will be made to be more assaulty. The shooty buildouts are said to have been dropped in overall power.

-Many FOC options for Warriors based on buildouts.

-Genestealers are going to be reduced stat wise. Moved to Elites.

-Broodlord and Lictors will be much improved.

Older

Latest scuttlebutt making the rounds: (its a little tough to read, but it's unaltered)

"-gargoyle : flying/rending/6points

-genestealers 2 brand of : the elite with a 4+ sv and the troop one with the generic save (5+ ? can't remenber). Infiltrate/fleet but don't know if all can do it or if you need to buy an upgrade or a special character.

-tyrant bodyguard can be taken separately

-an apocalypse sized creature is in the codex, it enter in play with a deep strike (in fact an underground strike) with the large template strengh 8 and ap : low (3 maybe, but was something sick) and can make a "buckload" of firing !

-Multiple carnifex can be bought with only one slot.

-warrior got something new but can't remember (i think it was +1hp)

-I heard something about a model shooting 20 times but was speaking with a girl a this point, so i can't say if it's was a weapon or multiple weapon on the same model.

-one eyes, red terror and friends are back in the codex. "

Look what's been floating about the tubes today Tyranid fans!

Now that is a mighty interesting creature there. It looks part Zoanthrope, Ravenor, Malanthrope, with a dash of Lictor for flavoring...

Various advance price lists are now showing up with the following creepy crawlies on them:

Pyrovore: (rumored to be a fire-based biovore variant giving the nids a strong indirect fire option)
Toxathrope: (probably the bug above, and sounding like a minor variant of a malanthrope/zoanthrope based on its name, size, and appearance)
Trygon: (the big guy himself, but still no word of whether its in the codex, or Apocalypse only)

taken from Bell of Lost Souls?  pretty sure most of that will turn out to be wish listing and perpetuating unconfirmed speculation and trying to pass it off as rumour.

but we'll see i guess

yeah, but people have been questioning BoLS rumour mill since GW clamped down on leaking info.  a lot of that stuff seems to be gleaned from warseer, and the far majority of it was purely people making idle comments, not offering hard rumours.

i really don't think stealers will be elites, though i'll be interested to see how they balance them out by doing that (more speculation is that a broodlord would make them troops)

and nerfing their stat line too?  that's pretty weak.  they better come cheap as hell considering how hard a hit they took with the change to rending rules.  or come equipped with power weapons like they were back in 3rd

i think there good as they are, and think no change should be done, i mean what at most people put 8-16 in there armys at most not like me with 40, I always found carneys to be why to over pwred when fighting them with marines. For there point cost they almost are likly not to be killed in a game.

Latest Tyranid scrapings from Warseer's TheDude and StickMonkey:

2nd Trygon Variant: Mawloc
"The Mawloc is a Trygon variant with a distending mouth (like the Red Terror) and lots of funny spines all over it."

Hive Guard
"... the Hive Guard look awesome, surely a model everyone will want to have, but imo is also going to be a new "Zoa" in terms of its tippy-ness. It's a tall bit of metal. Those others who have seen can confirm. For me, i'm thinking weighted bases may be in my future."

Carnifex Stats
To support more Fex' in the army an overall reduction in stats should take place, however, increases elsewhere compensate (not sure if they mean in weapons or in the statline)

Biomorphs and Weapons
Crushing Claws are huge "can openers"...+1A, double s (10Max), ignore as, add d6 pen, d3 "wounds"/"vehicle hits" (too good to be true, IMO). The rumors around CC are running rampant. There is no doubt their effectiveness will be improved in the new codex. Models equipped will get a strength boon and the additional glance or wound on hit, so you can say these will be can-openers. I also heard the rumor that the nid ability that has been mentioned prior with CC is they can latch onto vehicles and prevent movement away from combat at the expense of their bonus attacks.

Talons +1A, "pinning"?

Envenomed claws, upgrade to CC symbiotes, wound on 3+

Rending Claws, autowound on 6 on hit, more expensive

Spinefists, fire and run (is this the rumor "subconcious weapon" we heard before?)

Barbed Strangler, large blast, entangle...uni t next move as difficult terrain (Again, I thought this was a rumor elsewhere, too)

Bone sword, pretty much the same

Lashwhip, remove X attacks from attacking unit (allocate as wounds), can target individual, but then only affects single model. no min 1A. no longer base contact constrained. (a lot here and it seems complex, so I highly doubt all (or any) this is true, but I have no way to separate wheat from chaff)

Surprise Assault. (I'm not sure where this fits, if its an ability, a psychic thing, a army rule, a deployment rule, etc. If I were guessing I'd think it's lictor or Scuttlers related.) Unit enters play from reserve anywhere on table. must be 12" from enemy. Cannot assault the turn it enters play. Allowed normal DS "run"

Models
Ravenors (plastic) are 3 models per sprue. @ $29
Gargoyles (plastic) are 10 per box, and armed with fleshborers as the only weapons. @$44

Not sure if NZ prices i think they are US

or canadian dollars

or australian.  hard to tell with those guys, they're not very on to it with that stuff when they're retelling rumours they've heard as opposed to seeing it in the flesh.  i'd say we're looking at 55 buck for the gargoyles  which seems to be roundabout what a regular box of troops costs?

(i can't really remember consdiering how most of my models are bought through trademe Tongue)

yeah its a real pity with their price and the current rules they have, they're just not popular - but they were such awesome models, and now they have to make way for the plastics.  which i'll grant should be pretty epic, but i'm glad i got the three i have.

Its sounding good, hopefully the new codex will inspire me to play with them more. its about time that they made plastic gargoyles i've always wanted them.
I've got 3 rav as well, you don't see them used very often but there quick buggers.

I'm in the same boat as you guys with the stealer's (3 full squads plus space hulk boys), IF they do make the elite again I'll have to buy more troopers

i got my 16 gaunts to cover my troops, but i am going to be stuck with not anuff slots in my elites to run all my stealers, as i run 3 squads of 10 that will fill them up and i wont be able to use my lictors, unless they bummp up the squad sizes i will have to drop some. ahh but i can put my with my brood lord two squads of 12 and 12 with the lord make 36 so i should be able to do that.

If any one wants to part with there ravners i would be keep for them.

unless we're looking at the broodlord making stealers troops.  which seems to be a likely step if the stealer-> elite rumour is true.

info on the trygon model is being filtered through from brimstone on warseer.  seriously, the guys that run that site are bunch of chumps.  there's now a third thread for the rumours because those mods keep throwing their toys out of the cot and closing the threads.

in any case, we're looking at a model for the trygon that's very much like the FW one, with its tail and mawloc varients, plus a bunch of other add-ons.  and an 'emergence hole' too.  here's hoping for awesome effects once that thing surfaces.

the hive guard is also reported to be based on the tyrant guard model, except with some fancy gun

the pyrovore is like a biovore except with a different cannon back attachment

3 of those links are dead dave, what site did the come from keen to have a look.

I also found the most kick ass display board from my army is going to set me back about $250 bucks but it is going to look sick. i will also be able to make 3D space hulk boards that i am probably going to sell off.

Multiple sources are now reporting that the new Tyranid codex ran afoul of some manner of printing error which will push the release date back about a week to mid January.

Broodlords are said to be a squad upgrade for Genestealers to allow the unit to count as troops, rather than the expected HQ selection.

The Trygon is said to be $49.50 USD and will allow construction of 2 (some say 3) different models (the Trygon and Mawloc)

The new Tyranid Battleforce is said to contains no new models, with the Carnifex being swapped for warriors and rippers.

Gaunts are reported as being split up into seperate boxes of Termagaunts and Hormagants (a dozen for @$24 USD), so if anyone wants to buy the current mixed box of gaunts, grab em while you can.

Those don't look like friendly beasts at all.

Like it wasn't bad enough having your genestealers high-jacking my rhino's, hive tyrant surfing on my landraider and carnifex eating my terminators for lunch Cheesy

They do look pretty cool though.

there's actually a tonne of info in there that begin to hint things to us - instinctive behaviour appears to have changed drastically, perhaps beeing a slew of different effects that will determine the actions of a unit out of synapse.

the rules for the spore mines also make me excited - dropping a few clutches of them on to the board BEFORE deployment?  hell yeah!  going to have to start painting mine up

also the hardened carapace the biovore has - looks like there's going to be a massive slimming down for biomorphs coming.  good
