Perhaps an entry fee of $2-$3 Simon???
That should be totally enough for medals : ) I'm keen regardless and those pesky woodelves will be getting dusted off.

Hmm, I'll probably be doing WM instead this day. Otherwise the Ogres would get a play test before Cakecon.

geez, if you're not going to specifically state the system in the first post, you could at least allude to it in the title.

I was thinking about that as well, I didn't play Hordes for almost 3 months.
maybe we can have a starter box mini league for WM/ Hordes??

Not so much in the singular, but when so many threads (and posts) are announced generically but are really only specific to one (or two) gaming systems, then yes... it's very much a pet hate.

Unfortunately Hordes won't be in the 22nd Nov warmachine event (as their MkII rules come out a week later)... edit: as James says below, we can lend armies if you don't have one.
However, we are planning a gentle esclation league next year we thought all you guys might be interested in. Will start with Bbox sized games, then expand monthly to full sized forces. - requirement will only be about 4 gamers per month (which, as you know, is perhaps one club day a month)... so you all can still play WFB.  Wink Grin

We also plan on doing some Bbox/demo days early next year.

We can lend you some models if you like Simon, it's a small event.
15pts (roughly battle box size Mk2) warmachine only.

Fixed, since there is also talk of a 500pt 40K tournament. People will get confused.

MkII warmachine rules can be downloaded free here.

Hordes (MkII fieldtest) will be downloadable from November 25th... or somewhere around then.

Simon Re" the mini war machine hordes event.
I would strongly suggest Caution
I did a mashed metal tournament and managed to mass up a total of 16 players, it would have been a fantastic event if not for the community leaders complaining about the prizes they won, which was 40-60 bucks of vags vouchers.
It was totally off putting to say the least, for the effort/personal time/ cost involved.
That’s why I sold like $650+ worth of hordes stuff to piers.
If the community has changed then they might welcome this. But id tread lightly

Ill try to get in on this i like the idea of a small scale tournament

Wow thanks Rion.
But with all due respect you have no idea what you are talking about  Wink That was two years ago and things have changed. Also, people don't like playing for money.

And what do you mean might welcome this? We are running it!  Huh Dunno what you're on about.

We have 4-5 guys coming to play from Gale Force 9 I believe, at least two coming up from hamilton and the regular crowd so it should be a cracker!  Grin

I dunno James I clearly remember at the prize giving before announcing the winner you saying, quietly loudly over the top of everyone I might add.
“Vouchers? we are playing for money......... . Laaaaaaaame”  which was totally out of my control thanks to PP’s stuff ups, never mind the effort from the TO, lets just bag him in front of everyone at prize giving while receiving prizes. – Hardly Inspiring stuff, you’ve got to admit.

Anyway I digress I would totally be keen for a 500 point warhammer league !

If it's any consolidation, as a new member of the Auckland WM/H community, I was very happy with the organization of the last tournament I attended, and the prize support was amazing.

Thanks Gale Force Nine, for giving us a dream, that will never die.

well, since everybody (Warmachine) is jumping in...

Ome, that event you ran was awesome... it's half the reason I am so big on trying to run small Warmachine events.
You unfortunately suffered for a lot of things in it though... the PP stuff up was bad enough; and then you had to suffer the common react to money prizes (which I think you've taken a to heart a little too much - it wasn't a comment against you, but a general exclamation); then there was the fact this tournament occured between the big split in the WM community, so there was already some large divisions among the players - quite a few didn't appreciate the competative nature displayed in the final game between the top two.
Despite these it still came off well though... I'd play in another of your events any day.

...now carry on WFB peoples.

@Derick (you cunning fella changing your login)

We want lots more than 10 players for this guys. It's just that if we get the minimum 10 competitors we will have enough dosh for decent prizes.
This will be the warmup for your Krismus cakeCon Grin
