Buddha army

Is a Buddha army OK, or is it sacraligeous. I know that doing a Christ army is probably OK with most people but offensive to some. The same with an Muhammad, but more so. But do Buddists have the same sensitivities?

Too much politically (or in this case religious) correctness around as it is...

the question is how do you do a buddist army and stay within buddist philosphy.....
hay i maimed you, but i niether care or am concerned, for i am just being aware that i have taken your head from your shoulders, and that being part of the greater effort that is life and all that is within it,i am aware that this is neither good nor bad only what is.......and i am above such things

It sounds quite similar to "Nothing personal. I just do this for the money" doesn't it?
EDIT: It's probably less to do with the theme behind the army and more "Each model cost $2".

Antony - are we talking Ogre Kingdoms here? I'm struggling to envisage anything else working with this modelling wise.

Ah, cheers Nick. Missed that.
It's probably offensive to someone. I'm not personally offended by the idea - I'm not a Buddist (spelling? Bhuddist?) - but I know I'd be mortified if someone deployed a "Christ" army (whatever that would be - I guess that would be a whole lot of... crucifixes? Crucified models? Disciples? Roman Guards? Struggling with a solid modelling concept here). Seems like something designed to shock and get a reaction - can't think of a great reason for doing something like that.

An army of happy fatties, supported by interesting monsters, giants, yetis, rhinox. It's all there.
The rub is the cultural/religeous aspect. What may be inocuous to me,
may
be offensive to someone else.

Chaos War Altar with a crucified Grand Theogenist you mean? Pushed by models in white robes (Pharisees), and Chaos Warriors on foot armed, armoured and painted like Roman Legionnaires? All led by a literal Daemon Prince as the general?
Could even go a goblin theme... Statue of Gork/Mork with crucified/sacrifice pushed by gobbos in white robes... with the rest of the gobbo army in romanesque armour... big fat governor/general etc etc..
Its actually not a bad theme idea... and to be frank I can't see how anyone could take offence to it... I mean "christians" get together every year over easter to whip themselves and carry a cross up the temple mount don't they?
The rub isn't actually doing an army themed that way... its doing an army that "takes the p**s or pokes fun at it... which would of course be insensitive etc etc.
Ant - "its not a Buddha army - its an army of Sumo wrestlers" should detract any potential detractors?

just to steal the thread briefly,(but still staying in the general terms of the thread) thought of using my sons lego starwars as a marines army as he has a fair few......but not quite enough.gosh if you think about it you could really have some fun with just about any figures
doe's anyone remember the episode of "bottom"where they tried to play chess and did not have enough pieces......en
ded up with i giant spiderman as one of the many replaced pieces.
now back to thread.
i don't think it would bother anybody to much but how would the overall army look.how much choice do you have amongest $2 buddha's to represent different parts of army?

An example of "doing an army with something else" would have to be Michael's sheep army... that's very cool.
I would love to see a lego army. In fact the medieval fantasy lego stuff has mounted riders, and little catapults and everything... hmmm how about a competition for creating a themed army for warhammer not using any GW miniatures
the mind boggles!

Lego armies have been done before, also check out Michaels Shean the Sheep/Black Sheep army. I personally love them, but they are not to everyones taste.
I guess Bhuddas are a bit similar in that regard

You coudl do a cathay themed one and play it as somthing else.
i had the thought of doing a samuari army, and you know those cart things you see on tv, you know the ones where you sit in them and you get carted about by people. yeah was thinking you can have an orger pull it and maybe count it as a charriot

My firstt hought was this is Ants just being cheap!!!
Second thought how could you get enough variable poses etc...
Third thought if you need some Orge arms, weapons see me...
Fourth thought, basing on norse or indian culture might be more flexible if you are following a religious theme.
And final thought Human Rights Act, an orge army based on a continent theme like mine and one using a sole specific religious basis are quite different and could be a little ifffy?
We have been chucked out of a wargames hall we rented for many years by a christian religion because of playing with something with 'war' conatations, there are some people who take these things a tad seriously (but they don't come to conventions much

Ha. Reading this thread was fun.
Can you post some pics on when you've finished?
I'm a Buddhist (sort of) and I wouldn't mind playing an army like that. In fact I want to play against an army like that
Where on earth did you get that many Buddhas?
