Hi all,

This Sunday, 16th August, I have invited any interested parties to attend a gathering at the Freeman's Bay Hall from 2pm onwards to have a chat/confab/meeting with me about BattleCry. I plan to huddle out in the kitchen foyer bit and chat to anyone who turns up who wants to provide any input into how BattleCry 2010 will go.

So if you have any insights or feedback from this years event, swing by and let me know. If you want to run an event, let me know. If you have any suggestions of things you would like to see at the next event, let me know. Or if you can't make it, email me with any information you want shared at the meeting.

We will be finalising the players booklet over the next couple of weeks, and confirming final space/tournaments etc. If you want to do something let us know asap so we can try and include you in the dividing up of space etc.

How much is Battlecry Karen?

I pre-registered on the site, but couldn't for the life of me find a costing anywhere to make entry payment?

Cheers

At this stage it's all $25. Price goes up November 1st. I'll get the prices up as soon as I can. You can just pay be at the club if that's easier.

Thanks Karen!

At the moment easier for me to pay online as I won't be into Cityguard for a while.

i usually like to see the player pack before I enter a tournament.

I don't like to waste my money playing in a tournament with unthoughtful player pack. I am keen to enter, so will there be a player pack available before 1 Nov?

Very very unlikely at a guess seeing as Skaven aren't officially out until November. Where they are "placed" in the scheme of things is up for some debate.

If you decide you don't want to play, or have to pull out at any time before the cut off point for army lists, then you will get a full refund of your registration fee. It's only if you pull out after army list cut off that there will be a deduction in what we can return to you of your original fee dependant on the circumstances.

So once you have seen the player pack and don't want to stay in the event, we can refund the heavily discounted price of $25.

The wargaming part of the BattleCry website is lacking atm but if you go to the general page for BattleCry 2010 there is a registration link which will send me your details so I can contact you with stuff.

http://theamericaclub.net.nz/battlecry2010

At the bottom of the page is a registration link.

I'll try and get some details for the wargaming up on the site tonight, even if it's just generic page holders. I've been sick for the last few days and haven't really been up to doing much.

Where do we find details re Battlecry?

BattleCry is a gaming convention that happens every year in February in Auckland. It's organised through the Uni gaming club but it's a whole bunch of clubs and organisations and people working together to run all sorts of events.

There is wargaming, board gaming, card gaming, roleplaying, larping, demos, shop stalls, learn to play areas... you name it and it's related to gaming we try to include it.

It's held in February each year.

The link is the one I posted just above your message... this one: http://theamericaclub.net.nz/battlecry2010 which takes you to the website. It's not very full at the moment as several of the tournaments are working on player packs at the moment... or waiting for GW releases before announcing stuff.

I'm one of the organisers for it.

Cheers,

If anyone wants to register for BattleCry the website is up and running.

There is a web registration form on the bottom of the main BattleCry website which is pretty easy to fill in.

www.theamerica club.net.nz/battlecry2010

And pre-registration fee at the moment is $25 for a weekend tournament. This goes up on the 1st of November. And if you pre-register and pay before the 1st of Nov you go into the draw to win your money back and a special exclusive BattleCry 2010 tshirt.

I've got placeholder pages up for 40K and Warhammer's "FluffyCon" event. As soon as I have more info I'll post about it.

Oooh, which White Dwarf? I haven't seen an ad for it yet...

Wayde said 1850pts on Sunday, 6 rounds, scenerios given out on the day, yes you can use special characters...

There has been no restriction on Scepial Characters in 40k since 5th ed SM codex made them compulsory for certain builds. And 40k specials aren't un-balanced like the fantasy ones are

Some are very nasty. You could not take a Special Character and not take a comp hit at FoB.

I thought thats what my list was missing but after a couple of games, it hasn't helped at all!
I really don't like the fact that if you want to have different SM chapter you "have" to have one but saying that I've got good old bule boys anyway

well, not really

if you want special rules to apply to your army because you're usinga different chapter, then sure, but i think you can get armies that represent the character of most of the chapters out there without resorting to SCs

DA SCs aren't cheese either btw Sad

Well I guess if special characters are allowed there isn't going to be much of a problem with mixed armies? (as allowed by codex of course)

I was planning to run a Salamander Space marine / Sister of Battle mixed army, without Vulkan, however I found out recently Vulkans special ability is not able to be transfered to non SM anyway.

Hmmm, I went to Armageddon today and I couldn't manage to find you. I did see the King of Cards area through and I found Wayde (you can point him out from a mile away).
