Finished. That was a mission I must say, I put quite a lot of care into this miniature and I think it's come out quite nicely for a guy with my average skills.

Obvious things:
a) The base was the last micro-art studio base out of a set I had. I wanted him to be 'above' the battlefield and this suited the purpose quite nicely.
b) The pack. Heh, I'd had this idea for awhile and I was going to use it on one of my own miniatures but as the eagles came off an old Marneus Calgar pack I thought it was fitting for this guy to wear them. I know that one is larger than the other. Couldn't get it right. If they look funny the pack can be substituted quite easily.
c) The gems. I seem to be quite hit and miss with gems. Some days I can do them, some days I cannot. These turned out in the middle somewhere...

And here are the pictures. Smiley

Long and the short of it. Painting this guy actually makes me want to paint Ultramarines. There's something fun about that blue and gold, almost primal...

As always I would love to hear some Feedback. ^_^

I think he looks good, if you're painting like this now, you won't be an 'average' painter for very long Smiley

I can't offer much other feedback as your painting level is above mine.

i like your skin work to, i struggle to do skin and not make it look to plastic,if ya know what i mean. the only advice i would give with jewels is something i read in a white dwarf about just having the one high light and having it contasted with a shadow.I see that you have done the shadow but because of the extra highlight it is hard to see to give the contrast...... ...but then again dude i mainly paint lean mean green ork's so i have painted very little jewels in my time.far to pretty Grin but this is a model to be proud of Cheesy
